Flounder Florentine

Reviewed: Mar. 17, 2010
Delicious! I made a few slight modifications. Like other reviewers, I sauteed the spinach in garlic. I added a dusting of cayenne pepper to give it some punch. I also sprinkled some lemon juice over the fish. Lastly, when the fish was almost done I put the oven on broil for 2 minutes to give the top a nice crunch. Outstanding!

Addictive Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This was tasty, but SO MUCH SUGAR. I actually halved the sugar because the amount of sugar this recipe calls for is tremendous. It was still yummy, but not quite like a chinese restaurant.

Pumpkin Black Bean Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Loved this soup! I was a bit skeptical, but it came out great, and my husband said it his new favorite. Asked me to make it again! A few tips. I used a hand immersion blender to puree the beans and tomatoes. I like to avoid the extra appliance if I can and this worked out fine. I didn't have 3 cans of black beans so I used a can of pinto beans to replace one can of black beans and it came out great. I also took the recommendation of other reviewers and added a touch of cumin and used canned tomatoes with chiles (because I had it on hand). Served with sour cream and this was excellent. Thank you for sharing.

Slow Cooker Beef Stew IV

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2008
This is a great recipe. My kids love it. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because of 2 modifications that I make. I substitute sweet potatoes for regular potatoes (really nice flavor in stew), and I add quartered mushrooms.

Apple Honey Bundt Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
Make no mistake - this is not a diet friendly recipe, but it was yummy. I made this for Rosh Hashana. I substituted pecans for walnuts which I think was a good choice. After it was all done, I drizzled a thin layer of honey on top and sprinkled powder sugar to make it look pretty.

Picnic Zucchini Bean Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
This recipe was OK. I was hoping it would be great, but I wasn't wowed. I did add some fresh basil and parsley from my garden which added to the complexity of the flavor quite nicely.

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
Fantastic. And so easy! The longest part was pealing/slicing the apples. I cut the apples into bit size pieces because I was giving this to my small children who have trouble with bigger pieces. I also followed one of the suggestions to use half brown sugar and half white sugar. One other suggestion that worked great for me was to broil for the last 5 minutes. I have a top broiler and the flame really crisped up the top. Kids loved it with ice cream!
