Creamy Dill Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2009
I think this is a good basis for the dip, but I ended up adding a bit more mayo for more of a zip. Otherwise it was too sour cream like for my taste. Also, I added a significant larger amount of dill and bit more Beau Monde. It turned out great and just what I was looking for. Great for veggies, but even better in a bread bowl and used to dip bread pieces or crackers in.

Chicken Scarpariello

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2008
This recipe was quite good. My whole family enjoyed...even my five year old (who is a hard sell on everything). I followed the recipe pretty much exactly except that I followed the instructions of other reviewers and added a tiny bit of flour water at the end and used chicken broth instead of boullion. The only other change I did was that I used garlic butter marinated chicken breasts that they had at my grocery store at the meat counter. I served it all over angel hair pasta. My family said it is a definite repeater!

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
This recipe is delicious. Very subtle, but flavorful sauce. I loved the essence of ginger. I changed it a little though. I wanted to use up some leftover tenderloin that we had before it was no good anymore. I changed the broth to beef to compliment the change in meat. I used seasoned rice vinegar and I added bean sprouts and bok choy (cut very thin like matchsticks). I also omitted the water as others have recommended and I am so glad I did. The sauce coated the mixture perfectly and was so delicious. Lastly, I used this spaghetti noodles...just thought they seemed more "lo mein" like. Thanks!! Will definitely make again.

Spicy Hot Chicken Legs

Reviewed: Oct. 2, 2008
This is very similar to an oven baked buffalo wing recipe that I make. I decided to try this out so that I wouldn't have to go through all the trouble of cooking them. I used drummettes (I was trying to make finger foods for a lazy Sunday) and coated them with flour before putting them in the slow cooker. This gives them a bit of a mock breading when they cook. I ended up cooking them for about 3 hours on low (since they were smaller) and then broiling them to crisp them up for the last 15 or 20 minutes. I also flipped the drummettes half way through and spooned more sauce over them. They turned out so tender and delicious! My husband was loved them and had no complaints!

Quick Black Forest Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2008
This recipe turned out great! My husband, who doesn't like cake, even rated it a 4 star...My daughter on the other hand, gave it a 5. I prepared it mostly as the recipe stated, except I used the Duncan Hines Dark Chocolate mix like others suggested. I sifted powdered sugar over it to garnish, along with a couple cherries I reserved. It looked great and tasted even better! Thanks!

Roasted Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: May 23, 2008
I have to admit, I was a little skeptical because this recipe was so very simple. It turned out delicious. I added minced garlic as suggested and used garlic sea salt because I didn't have kosher salt on hand. The sprouts turned out great and tasted wonderful. Thanks for a simple and delicious way to prepare brussel sprouts.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
This is my new favorite way to prepare asparagus. I was very skeptical of the vinegar, but figured all these people couln't be wrong. Thanks goodness I listened! I prepared it just as directed and it turned out great. My husband and I had it with a steak dinner and we both said we wished we had more asparagus! We ended up pouring the leftover sauce onto our steaks as a marinade. I highly reccomend this recipe. Thank you!

Tangy Egg Salad Spread

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
I found this recipe today when I was looking for an egg salad recipe that might be a little more flavorful. I didn't have parsley and I used dried basil, but it turned out great. It tasted like a deviled egg in a sandwich. If yellow mustard is not top on your list...I would go with suggestions and lower it just a little. I cut the recipe in half since it was just for me and I have plenty for another couple sandwiches. Thanks for the recipe!

Chicken Marsala

Reviewed: Jan. 14, 2008
This chicken marsala recipe was the best I've tried. It was very delicious and very easy. I took a few suggestions from others and added just a little heavy whipping cream to the sauce towards the end to make it richer. I used 3/4 cup marsala wine since I was out of sherry. Also, in a separate pan, I very lightly sauteed the mushrooms with minced garlic before adding them to the chicken as the recipe called. I think the garlic added some extra flavor. Great recipe and will be used again.

Delicious Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2007
This soup is absolutely delicious. I added some green onion, chives, and few cloves of minced garlic, but other than that, I kept the recipe as is. It turned out creamy and very tasty. I used white pepper and it gave it a good little kick. If you are very sensitive to spice, I'd lower the pepper amount a little. Thanks for a great recipe that will be a staple at our house on cold winter nights!
