Pumpkin Puree

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2012
Simple and easy. Thanks so much for the help! I did put mine on the stove a little bit to reduce it, since it came out so watery. I froze it in 2 cup pyrex dishes, so I'm ready to make pie any time! :) Thanks!

Perfect Pumpkin Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2012
I live in Brasil, so had to puree my own pumpkin to make this. But I did a bunch and froze it in 2 cup measurements, so that'll make it easy for future pies. :) But the recipe is perfect as is, didn't change a thing! Thank you for posting!

Wonderful, perfect traditional crust. Just what I was looking for. I used butter instead of shortening and all went perfectly. Very pleased! Thanks so much for posting!

Cinnamon Toast

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2012
I am very happy to have had stumbled upon this recipe, and I give it a well deserved 5 stars! The fact that somebody took the time to write out this classic "recipe" from my childhood, (I haven't had it in maybe 20 years!) jogged my memory and has allowed me to serve it up as breakfast to my two daughters, 4 and 6. They LOVE it and ask for it often now. So THANK YOU!

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2011
This is now my go-to bruschetta recipe! It's sooo easy and it's impressive to serve. I don't like putting the mozzarella on top, I feel like it looks cheap, almost like pizza. I like serving it looking a little more refined and up-scale. I take sliced mozzarella and cut it into small pieces to fit on my bread slices. After toasting the bread, then I toast it with the small piece of cheese on it. THEN I add the tomato mixture. It seems to hold the tomato well (doesn't fall off at all) and it looks impressive. Sometimes I top it off with some shaved Parmigiano-Reggiano, and it makes it look just that much more impressive, and adds a little something. :)

Boneless Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2010
My husband LOVED these! I made them exactly as the recipe says to. I also made a kid friendly version of nuggets without the cayenne pepper and my 2 and 4 year old loved them. Next time I'll bake them, to avoid all the fat... and I'll compare to see if they come out just as yummy. Thanks so much for posting!

I made these with my 2 and 4 year old daughters. We all loved them. The only thing different I did was make them with butter instead of shortening... it worked out great. Thanks for posting this, we'll definitely make it again!!! :)

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2009
I did exactly as GOURMETMOMMY suggested as most other people have seemed to do. I had right under a cup of fresh lemon juice, so to up the flavor a little I put in some lemon zest too. It was great.

I didn't cook this enough because I was afraid to burn it. But that's my fault. The sauce on top was delicious, my family loved it. Thanks for sharing it!

Easy Platz (Coffee Cake)

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I love this recipe because all ingredients were on hand at home, and I didn't have to go to the store for anything. I took the advise of others and used a 9X13 dish so it was no thicker than 1/2 an inch thick, but it still needed to cook almost an hour. Be prepared for that. (I had a very anxious birthday girl waiting for her breakfast cake!!) :) Also, the blackberries we had weren't very good... not too sweet, so if that happens again, I think I'll just sprinkle some sugar on them before putting them on the cake - that should help. But the cake was a hit - we'll make it again for sure. Thanks for sharing it!

Sausage and Egg Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 29, 2008
When I made this it was very watery - probably because I used light bread (it's really airy, not as dense)... so it didn't absorb the milk. Next time I'll just use less milk with the light bread and it'll be better I'm sure. Even with it a little too liquidy, we all really liked it around here. I made it for Christmas morning. It's a good recipe for holiday mornings since you make it the night before!

Apple Crisp III

Reviewed: Apr. 29, 2008
Super easy and yummy! I made it quickly, even when I had kids running around the house. It was watery on the bottom, and crunchy on top. But when we mix it all together in your bowl, and it's an awesome sauce! YUMMY! How I changed it: I added just a tad of nugmeg to the apples. I also split the sugar with half brown and half white. I also put in a splash of vanilla and a touch of cinnamon in the topping. I love it. I know I'll make it again when I'm having people over because it's so easy to make, and there is not much clean up either. Oh, I cooked it in my toaster oven and it browned in the proper amount of time, I didn't need to cook it longer at all.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2008
I'm a total rookie in the kitchen, and if I can make these anybody can. I've never made pancakes before, and have never really loved them. But as an American living in Brazil, I am starting to make traditional "American" food so my 2 year daughter can experience things we don't have here in Brazil. My husband and her both loved it, as did I. After reading reviews, I decided to add 1 tsp of vanilla, and reduce the baking powder just a little to 3 tsp, and the salt to 1/2 a tsp. It was great. I'm excited to start playing with the recipe by adding bananas, apples, etc to make it a little more nutricious and flavorful. :)
