Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2014
This is a keeper! We will never go back to packaged seasoning again! I used half cayenne in place of the full amount of crushed red pepper simply because I didn't have any on hand. It came out fine, perhaps a little on the spicy side for those who don't like the heat. 3 TBS per lb of ground meat is good, as other reviewers have suggested. Thanks Bill, for sharing!

JD's Quick Slow Cooker Turkey Chili

Great for potlucks or big gatherings since it is very mild.

Anzac Biscuits I

Reviewed: May 24, 2013
Tasty! I cut back the baking time to 15 mins. (dough size of walnut or slightly larger.) They were still crispy and not overcooked. For a chewy cookie, I would reduce even further to 13 mins. I found golden syrup on Amazon. It would probably be fine to use corn syrup or maybe even honey, though latter would alter the taste, and either would make them less authentic.

Slow Cooker Cilantro Lime Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 24, 2013
I have been making this at least once a month for about a year. It is SOOOOO easy and good. I use green salsa, make my own taco seasoning (Taco seasoning I, on this site), double the lime and cilantro, and shred an hour or so before I serve, if I have time...helps the flavors blend into the chicken a little better. We use it on nachos, in enchiladas, in burritos, and in tacos...very versatile AND low fat...yippee!

Mrs. Sigg's Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2012
Very good cookie! I will cut back on the white sugar a bit next time because they were a little sweet for my tastes. Overall, they came out well with the right amount of chewiness (which, IMO, is the missing factor in most PB cookie recipes.) The only modifications I made was to use all butter (I didn't have shortening) and added a little extra peanut butter and flour as recommended by other reviewers.

Harvest Rice Dish: custom

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2012
I modified this based on reviews and my own preferences: omitted orange zest because others mentioned that there is "too much going on", reduced onion to 1 because 3 seemed like too much to me, burned the almonds (LOL). My husband doesn't like rice but he said he would eat this again! I like rice and I loved this recipe. I will definitely make this again!

Navy Bean Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2012
Even better the next day! I left out the potato flakes and just let it cook a lot longer until the beans were super soft and that thickened it up to my tastes.

Elegant Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2011
Other than leaving out the bacon (because I was serving with ham) I followed the instructions exactly. It was good, but i don't care for the velveeta (personal preference). If I make this again, I will look for a alternative to the processed cheese.

I made this as written...it came out great and I will make it again. It's not super sweet but still satisfying. This is my "go to" coffee cake recipe!

Make-Ahead Slow Cooker Beef Stew

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2011
By far, the best beef stew recipe I have ever tried...it is always gobbled up by my picky family. I usually make a double batch, omit the broth, then freeze it in 4 portions. That way I have a quick "throw-it-in-the-pot" dinner for work weeks...just add broth and let it cook while I'm at work.

Baked Slow Cooker Chicken

Not my favorite version of chicken... I might use this recipe again for a workday when I don't have several hours to roast a chicken in the oven.

Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2011
Wonderful recipe! I'm reviewing it as I await to devour the next pancake, currently finishing in the pan! The pancakes are fluffy and delicious. I waited 15 mins or so after mixing to start cooking. The only changes I will make next time is to try a little vanilla and to reduce the amount of sugar to suit my personal tastes. (I'm the type who uses only about a half tsp of syrup on a whole stack of pancakes.)

Chai Concentrate

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2011
Aredendra, thanks for all your work perfecting this chai concentrate! I love that it uses whole spices instead of ground. I couldn't find star anise in my local (rural) grocery store so I omitted that. I use vanilla almond milk instead of cow's milk. I found that I prefer the unsweetened vanilla. I tried the sweetened vanilla and omitted the honey but that wasn't as good. The honey doesn't have a strong flavor, but it definitely adds something to the overall finished product.
