Corn on the Grill

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2015
I really did love it. Yum. I whipped up the ingredients minus the hot sauce and poured it on the 2 ears I had marked for my kids, then I added 1/2 tsp paprika, 1/2 tsp cayenne and about 5 shakes of Tabasco. I did not use any cumin. I do not like that flavor on anything. I soaked my corn shucked and cleaned in cold water for 1 hour with 1/2 c sugar and 1T salt. Patted dry and placed one ear on an 8" piece of aluminum foil. I poured about 1 T of the butter mixture on each ear and rotated it to coat it. I closed the foil and then I grilled for 15 min turning every 3 minutes. They were perfectly done. The ears with the hot mixture really were not hot. I'll definitely add more spice the next time. The flavor is great. My husband thought it was too "limey" tasting but he ate 2 ears. Definitely a keeper. Thanks for the great recipe. I saved the leftover mixture and put it on baked chiken.

Dave's Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2015
Great slaw recipe, thanks Dave! I used a 16 oz bag of precut red and green cabbage with carrots. I added additional 5 baby shredded carrots since there didn't seem to be much carrot in the precut ingredients. I halved the dressing since I read all the other reviews. I also used 2 green onions and about 3/4 cup of sweet onion. That was plenty of onion. I did add more cayenne since I like my slaw to have a nice kick. I used 4 packets of Truvia instead of sugar. Our family follows the Primal lifestyle and try to avoid white sugar. I omitted the garlic and used season salt. I use Morton's season salt on everything since I love it. It's so easy and it has salt, pepper and garlic in it. The slaw only marinated about 4 hours before we ate it and it was still great. I'm sure the left overs will be awesome tomorrow. Thank you for a great recipe that really makes an ordinary BBQ side dish outstanding!

Dave's Georgia Black Eyed Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2011
This is a really great recipe. I halved it. Really flavorful not too salty. I had already fried some bacon so I just cut up 6 strips of bacon and added them to the peas and I added 2 tbsp of unsalted butter since I did not have any bacon grease left. I microwaved the bacon. Did not add salt only pepper. I thought 4 bullion cubes would be too much but they were perfectly seasoned. Use vidalia onions or a peru sweet onion for more flavor. For the ham I used left over honey baked ham and removed the honey rind and fat. I think I simmered only about six hours but they were a nice soft consistency. A keeper!!!

These were really good and easy to make. I did not have sweet and sour mixer so I just used JC margarita mix and they still tasted great. I kept the ice in my glass and added a straw.
