Sweet and Spicy Stir Fry with Chicken and Broccoli

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2014
Like other reviewers, I added more vegetables and increased the sauce. It was plenty salty without adding the salt recommended in the recipe. Also, I felt it was spicy enough so I didn't add the crushed red pepper. Very adaptable and easy recipe and it tasted great!

Kung Wow Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2012
The only thing missing from the directions for this recipe is the need for a prep chef. I want someone else to measure out everything and chop all the vegetables and put it all in nice little ramekins so I can swoop in and put this dish together! It was quite good, but I think there are lots of other recipes for Asian cuisine that taste just as good but are less involved.

Cobble Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2011
I made this with my five year old granddaughter-what fun! The balls don't have to be perfectly round or all the same size so it worked out well. It had been mixed and had risen for five minutes before I discovered I hadn't added the sugar! Whoops! But I went ahead and kneaded it in with the help of my mixer with a dough hook, and it turned out soft and light. The final result was delicious-only problem is I can't seem to resist pulling off and munching on another "cobble" every time I walk by! The nuts stuck to the bottom of the bundt pan, but I remedied that by scraping them off immediately and placing them back on top before I added the glaze. Thank you for a wonderful recipe!

Steak Marinade

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
I was not impressed with this recipe. I should have known it wasn't going to be too good when I saw the first ingredient listed. If I'm going to make a marinade at home I don't usually want to use a prepared sauce. It just tasted like doctored-up barbeque sauce. I'd have done better to just use lemon juice, garlic, salt and pepper on my steak. Sorry, I won't be making this again.

Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
I'd been craving the flavor of "fajita steak" that is served at several Mexican restaurants in the area, but I didn't want to pay what they charge, so I decided to give this recipe a try. OH. MY. GOODNESS. This is sensational! I marinated it about five hours and cooked the steaks over low heat on the grill and served it with a garden salad and corn on the cob. YUM! I can't wait to serve this to my grown kids and their families. I'm sure I'll eventually get around to making the entire dish with the tortillas and everything, but the steak by itself was incredible! Thanks for sharing!

Manicotti Alla Romana

Reviewed: May 7, 2011
This was delicious and definitely worth the effort. I'd have given it five stars, but I think it lacked just a little "zip." Then again, I like my food highly seasoned. I may try to experiment with different/more spices the next time. This recipe is a keeper!

Black Bean and Rice Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Very good and very healthy! I cut down the lemon juice a little bit, didn't use the liquid from the beans or the corn, and used an Uncle Ben's brown and wild rice mix I had in the cupboard. We loved it. Next time I'll slice up some grilled chicken and add it to the mix. Thanks for a great summertime meal idea!

Cheeseburger Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
I sliced the carrots instead of shredding them and added a minced jalapeño to jazz this up a little, and ended up with the perfect cold weather soup. Thanks!

Tomato Enchilada Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2007
With all the five star reviews, I expected something more. It was very bland. This was definitely missing something. It didn't have enough cheese for my family's tastes, and the enchiladas were soupy. I won't make this again.

Dorsey's Cream of Crab Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2007
I always like to try recipes as written the first time, but it was apparent that this was going to be too watery. I used chicken stock, left out the water, and thickened the celery, butter and onion mixture with a couple extra tablespoons of flour. I added two extra potatoes, and used about two and a half cups of whipping cream instead of the half and half. Seasonings I used were Worcestershire sauce instead of the soy sauce, a little chopped fresh basil, additional Old Bay, and a dash of cayenne pepper. The result was fantastic; thick and creamy, everything a good "Ball-mer" Cream of Crab soup should be!
