Guess who's back home??
First she went to Grandma's house in Montana....we picked her up at the airport on a Thursday afternoon, the first week in July.
Friday night we were driving her to the half way point between our house and where she was to spend the next 4 weeks.....her biological father's house. I could go into detail here about my thoughts on this whole matter but I won't. I will say this....my girl
has a lot of folks that love her and her world is a happy one. She don't miss out on much!
Besides everything that is going on with Rick's shoulder, I have been missing Savana like crazy. This is only the second summer that she has been to Texas....it was the longest 4 weeks of our lives!
I just got great news.....Rick has an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He sees him on Thursday. We decided to go to the university hospital because, frankly, they don't turn anyone away.
Rick's bosses $10,000 policy will be used up.....anything over that, well, let's just say this.....we have 2 years from the date of the accident to file a claim against her for negligence.
I may have forgot to mention....we talked to 3 different attorneys in the matter of the boss lady's liability for Rick's injury.
She isn't liable for anything over that $10,000. Crazy! I know, but that policy protects her.
I can see the billboard now.....
"Move to Oklahoma. If your payroll is small enough and your employee gets hurt, you're in luck! No workman's comp for you.....and it's an added bonus if you go into agriculture. You can pay them whatever you like....minimum wage does not apply to you."
So anyways, I don't know about every other kid in the country but my kid goes back to school on Thursday! It's too soon.....we've seen her
one day out of the whole summer. She comes home and starts back to school a week later. We have little time to get her back into her routine for school.
Bedtime comes early at our house. Eight o'clock.
I'm a firm believer in kids getting plenty of rest. As I write this, Savana is getting up and around. She and daddy had breakfast together and the house is alive with the sounds of a 9 year old who's happy to be back in her own room! Everything is right in
my world again, well, almost everything....I'll let you know on Thursday.
