Guess who's back home??
Savana!!!!!!!!

First she went to Grandma's house in Montana....we picked her up at the airport on a Thursday afternoon, the first week in July.
Friday night we were driving her to the half way point between our house and where she was to spend the next 4 weeks.....her biological father's house. I could go into detail here about my thoughts on this whole matter but I won't. I will say this....my girl has a lot of folks that love her and her world is a happy one. She don't miss out on much!

Besides everything that is going on with Rick's shoulder, I have been missing Savana like crazy. This is only the second summer that she has been to Texas....it was the longest 4 weeks of our lives!

I just got great news.....Rick has an appointment with an orthopedic surgeon at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City. He sees him on Thursday. We decided to go to the university hospital because, frankly, they don't turn anyone away.
Rick's bosses $10,000 policy will be used up.....anything over that, well, let's just say this.....we have 2 years from the date of the accident to file a claim against her for negligence.
I may have forgot to mention....we talked to 3 different attorneys in the matter of the boss lady's liability for Rick's injury.
She isn't liable for anything over that $10,000. Crazy! I know, but that policy protects her.

I can see the billboard now.....

"Move to Oklahoma. If your payroll is small enough and your employee gets hurt, you're in luck! No workman's comp for you.....and it's an added bonus if you go into agriculture. You can pay them whatever you like....minimum wage does not apply to you."

So anyways, I don't know about every other kid in the country but my kid goes back to school on Thursday! It's too soon.....we've seen her one day out of the whole summer. She comes home and starts back to school a week later. We have little time to get her back into her routine for school.
Bedtime comes early at our house. Eight o'clock.
I'm a firm believer in kids getting plenty of rest. As I write this, Savana is getting up and around. She and daddy had breakfast together and the house is alive with the sounds of a 9 year old who's happy to be back in her own room! Everything is right in my world again, well, almost everything....I'll let you know on Thursday.

What a beauty! She obviously takes after her mama. I hope all goes well for Rick on Thursday (not sure I'd wait two years . . .) In Indiana, if you're in the restaurant business, minimum wage doesn't apply to servers either. So we have an abundance of restaurants (unhealthy food, over weight people, you get the picture). Your family is in my thoughts. ♥

So glad the hubby's getting his shoulder taken care of. That first - deal with the "B" later. Hope you enjoy your last few days of summer break with your daughter. What a great smile she has!! Take care, cowgirl.

Savana looks great! The OUMC will get Rick fixed up right and your lives will be on their way back to a near normal state.

Definitely got her mama's good looks! We have until after Labor Day before our kids go back to school. We start the 8:00 bedtime in another week! Yikes. Hang in there. All best wishes!!

Hey Cowgirl, been missing you here on dthe RE. Your daughter looks so happy to be home. I'm glad you will get Ricky's shoulder taken care of, but what the attorneys said really sucks! That is just plain wrong! Keeping your family in my prayers & hoping a great opportunity is in your future.

Thanks y'all for the kind words and continued prayers. I am so happy to have Savana back home. She is the best thing that's happened to me, ever.~~I will keep y'all posted about Rick's shoulder when we know more. The university hospital will do Rick right...that's where I went for surgery on my foot back in '07. He is in good hands there.

Hey there Cowgirl. Thinking about you and Cowboy Rick today. So very glad he's having it looked at. Just remember, she will get hers. Somehow, someway justice will be served. Get him fixed up first and then we'll get you the heck out of Dodge. On a different note, Savanna is just a beauty and getting cuter day by day. Give her a hug from me and give yourself one too while your at it. I'm so glad she's home for you. ♥

About Me
Small town Oklahoma is my home but I've been all over the place. Love to cook but I've been stuck in a rut lately.
My favorite things to cook
I make a mean spaghetti sauce, before my husband met me he wouldn't eat spaghetti. The first time I made it for him he had 3 plates full! Now it's a favorite. There are now a couple meatball recipes from AR that I love. I never used to like meatballs. They are Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs and Honey-Garlic Glazed Meatballs. I highly recommend them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
No real traditions other than I don't usually do Thanksgiving dinner. For several years now, we have gone to church for their Thanksgiving dinner. Love seeing old friends that we haven't seen since the previous year at the same dinner!
My cooking triumphs
Anything that doesn't wind up burnt is a triumph in my book....
My cooking tragedies
It is a tragedy of late that I was once so inspired in the kitchen... and now, not so much.
