For Mother's Day my family and I made our destination the Wichita Mountains.  Just a short drive from our home.

The mountains are some of the oldest in the world...550 million years old!  While driving around you may spot an American bison (buffalo), elk, white tail deer and even some Texas Longhorn cattle. On this trip we only saw a few buffalo from a long ways off. So, no great photos of them to share. There is this sign ....warning ya'!

We headed up the mountain.........

And up the mountain....given all the other times we've been up this mountain I never tire of view.
Rick never gets to see much on the way up....he is one of those drivers that 'where he looks is where he steers' so he keeps his eyes on the road and we all get to live another day.

Here is the view from the top....betcha' didn't know Oklahoma even had mountains. We have a very diverse landscape here in the sooner state.
And I had to throw in some of the family, or as they're known on the mountain....."The Incredibles" ...those two love to flex their muscles!

Thanks for checking out what I did on Mother's Day...there was much more to tell but I ran out of room.......

Wow! I haven't been to OK for a long time. My boys go down to the dunes to play with their 4wheelers. I stay at home & piddle in the garden :) Lovely pics!

That's awesome!! What a view...your mountains are way different than ours. You get an incredible view of the landscape and we get an incredible view of the trees covering them. I wish you wouldn't have run out of room, please put up part 2, I'm waiting!!

I'm one of those people that thought the only things on an Oklahoma horizon were interstate bridges.I've been educated, again! Looks like a great outing for your Mother's Day! And it was good to meet Rick and Savannah, to!

Glad you enjoyed them, WFDM. Mike, you know what? It wasn't until I had lived everywhere BUT here that I realized how pretty Oklahoma is. I don't think I ever stopped to notice before. I moved away in '91 and never looked back.

Wide open spaces-how beautiful. Reminds me of the foothills here-fresh air, lots of room, bouncing echoes with the kids-great fun.

Red, you sneaked in while I was typing! Yes, compared to the mountains I've seen, the ones we have here are foothills, lol!

If you ever decide to plan a trip to take your breathe away, come to see my mountain tops. Banff, Jasper, AB-God's masterpieces. Golden, BC is another beauty in itself. Sitting in the hotsprings while the temp is so cold outside you dread walking out in a bathing suite. Ski dooing in the mountains is a rush compared to nothing else. Catching a huge salmon and reeling him in-priceless.

Cool!I drove (alone) from the SW corner of Saskatchewan all the way to Vancouver, BC. back when I was 5 months pregnant with Savana. It was beautiful!! I would love to visit more of Canada

About Me
Small town Oklahoma is my home but I've been all over the place. Love to cook but I've been stuck in a rut lately.
My favorite things to cook
I make a mean spaghetti sauce, before my husband met me he wouldn't eat spaghetti. The first time I made it for him he had 3 plates full! Now it's a favorite. There are now a couple meatball recipes from AR that I love. I never used to like meatballs. They are Lana's Sweet and Sour Meatballs and Honey-Garlic Glazed Meatballs. I highly recommend them.
My favorite family cooking traditions
No real traditions other than I don't usually do Thanksgiving dinner. For several years now, we have gone to church for their Thanksgiving dinner. Love seeing old friends that we haven't seen since the previous year at the same dinner!
My cooking triumphs
Anything that doesn't wind up burnt is a triumph in my book....
My cooking tragedies
It is a tragedy of late that I was once so inspired in the kitchen... and now, not so much.
