Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
Wow...thats all I can say. My husband said he thought they were from the local bakery. I followed the GOURMETMOMMYs suggesstions b/c it seemed to work out better. I would bake it for about 23 minutes though.

Marranitos (Mexican Pig-Shaped Cookies)

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2008
They tasted exactly like the puerquitos that my parents used to buy me as a child from our local panaderia (bakery). My one suggestion is to adjust the baking time if you dont have the marranito/puerquito cookie cutter. this cookie cutter is slightly larger then your average large cookie. I used a large tulip cookie cutter (b/c its what i had) and the first batch hardened to much, and they were okay, but they defintely didnt have that authentic marranito texture. So I lowered the timed by 3-4 mintues. Its also important to roll the batter into the right thickness...enjoy!

Peanut Butter Bars I

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
My husband is a peanut butter fan and let me tell you...he was in heaven when he had his first bar! These had great texture, a bit stiffer then a peanut butter cup, but I prefer it that way. They did crumble a bit, but it got better as they were refrigerated longer...we were too impatient and wanted to try almost immediatley!! sooooo good! Will defintely make again.

Creamiest Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
This did take me a bit longer, but as rated before "its well worth it" I made a few changes...I boiled the rice with half and half and 2-3 cinnanmon sticks. I didnt put the sugar in the begining b/c the rice will not become soft it will remain somewhat al dente. continue with the recipe as written, add sugar towards the end.

Bacon-Topped Meat Loaf

Reviewed: Jan. 23, 2008
I followed the recipe almost, I didnt have chili sauce, so I improvised and used what I had in my fridge that I thought might be tasty. I used 1/2 cup of ketchup, 1 tbs of A-1 steaksauce, 3-4 dashes of franks red hot, 3-4 dashes of teriyaki sauce, 2 tbs of bbq sauce. and for the glaze i did a mixture of bbq, ketchup and brown sugar. I glazed the top of the loaf before putting the bacon and after on top of the bacon. let me tell you mmmmm delicious! My husband loved it and asked me if I could put it in his lunch box for the next day.
