Cornish Finnish Michigan Pasties

Reviewed: Aug. 11, 2010
Fist let me say that though I live in Michigan I have never had a true pasty from the UP, only the ones in southeastern Michigan. To me, these are AWESOME! I only changed a few things, but I am positive they would be perfect if you followed the directions to a tee. I made the dough exactly as it is except added the salt as another review suggested. I used diced potatoes and carrots, had no rutebaga or msg on hand, I added a can of sweet peas, cooked the meat slightly to drain excess fat and added pepper, basil and parsley for flavor. Sauteed the onions with a couple gloves of garlic and the seasonings to soften. Also used a egg white wash for top. Came out perfect after 50 mins at 425 f.

Sherry Sour Cream Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2009
I LOVE THIS RECIPE! Has been my families fav for about a year now and I thought I should review it since I am making it again tonight...the only thing I change is I double the sauce...Its so very easy and it blends so well together. I always make mashed garlic potatoes and sauteed zucchini and yellow squash...Thank you so much!

Lori's Famous Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2008
These are phenomenal! I love crabcakes but have never made them myself. I wanted to make a sweet simple dinner for my sweetie and I and this was the perfect recipe. He loved them. The only changes I made were, I used a yellow pepper instead of a green, used vacuum sealed fresh lump crab from the seafood section and chopped it up, and I didn't have the old bay seasoning so I used zesty lemon grill seasoning because it had everything in it. I also found I needed more bread crumbs in the mix to hold the cakes together better, used about 3/4 cup. I served them with a sauce of 2 TBLS mayo, sour cream and dijon mustard mixed well with fresh parsely and a splash of white wine and a little white pepper, alongside a salad of baby italian greens with cucumber, mozzarella cheese and balsamic vinaigrette....delish! Thanks for the great recipe...will try appetizer portions at my housewarming party!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2007
I roast seeds every year and these are great. I would suggest sprinkling salt and garlic sat on the seeds everytime you stir them up. 45 min. was perfect and I stirred them every 10-15 min.

Broccoli Beef Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
This recipe was AWESOME! My husnand and I have been trying our own chinese recipes and this one tops them all. I did alter it a little bit though, I marinated the boneless chuck shoulder cut up, (thin) in 1/2 cup of the sherry, 1/4 cup of good soy sauce, a TBL ginger and a TBL cornstarch, I also added about a TBL of this awesome spice from mickeysrubsandspices galled "great garlic pepper" If you love garlic check out that site, I met the guy at a street fair and these are all great spices, plus free shipping! Anyways, I marinated it only for an hour but next time I will do overnight. Then we made the actual recipe the same just exactly doubled the sauce and added about 5 cloves of fresh garlic. Extra ginger too because I only had dry, not fresh. All and all, this recipe is great for the whole family and beats any take out restaurant! Thanks so much for the post.
