Fluffy Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2013
I agree with the other 4700+ people. This was a fabulous recipe. You can eat them without syrup they were so good. I love pancakes and these were so easy to make. I have three boxes of expired pancake mix in my cabinet, which is why I went looking for a home made pancake recipe. I won't ever buy pancake mix again.

Debdoozie's Blue Ribbon Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2012
This is easy, tasty chili. I've made it three times now. I used the same ingredients just more of everything. A whole onion, 2 cans of light and 2 cans of dark kidney beans, 15oz jar of salsa, 28oz can of crushed tomatoes (instead of sause), real garlic, two packages of chili seasoning (1 mild, 1 hot). The extra salsa and extra crushed tomatoes made it a little soupier than I would have liked so next time I will hold back a little on both. The only thing I did differently was I sauteed the onions, then added the garlic, then put in the meat and the chili seasoning so the meat could cook with the spices. Then added everything else in and let it simmer. I've tried it with ground beef and ground turkey. Both were good, however I like the beef better. It was a little sweet and I'm not sure where the sweetness is coming from. I like a different tasting chili, but because this recipe is fast and easy it ends up winning.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2008
OMG!!! This IS the perfect Turkey. I'm a Ham person at Thanksgiving not a turkey person, but now, after making this turkey, I'm a turkey person. I have NEVER tasted turkey like this. It is not that the other turkey's were dry it's that they were so so bland. I would always have to add salt or dressing to make the turkey taste good. This "Perfect Turkey" is just that, perfect!! You don't need to add anything to this turkey to eat it. It was moist and tasty. Everyone at Thanksgiving raved about the taste. Unbelievable. I've only made two turkeys in my whole life and I am floored by how good this is. The kicker is I used the left over Turkey to make soup and I didn't need to add anything but water. The Turkey had so much flavor I made Perfect Turkey Soup with it.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Apr. 9, 2008
We all cleaned our plates! The only thing I didn't put in was white vinegar because I didn't have any. I did back the chicken in the oven instead of grilling. The chicken was so so tender and the taste was wonderful. I didn't have fresh rosemary so I used the dried. This was so good I will definitely cook this again. It was easy and tasty! I served with rice and peas.

Special Irish Beef Stew

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2008
I really like the taste of this stew. It has a different flavor than the stews most of us are used to so this may not taste good to everyone. For me it was nice to taste something different, especially when it tastes good. I did take heed to other reviewers comments and added and subtracted some things to make the taste more "palatable", but nothing that would turn it into a different recipe. It still has that "special" taste which comes from the beer. NOTE: I doubled the recipe. I used 9 cloves of garlic 3 large potatoes, almost 4 lbs of stew meat, 3/4 of a 2lb bag of baby carrots (cause I didn't want to cut carrots), 2 small onions, 2 12oz bottles of Guinness, as much oil and flour as needed to brown the meat, 2 6oz cans of tomato paste, 3 cups of Mushrooms and 4 cups of beef broth. ADDED: My additions were a result of reading the reviews. I added twice the meat and more potatoes than carrots. I added sea salt and pepper to the flour that I used to brown the meat. I have found in my limited cooking experience that seasoning meat before it is cooked is never a bad idea. I also added a little sea salt to the stew. To bring in a familiar taste, a little thyme, a little basil and a couple of bay leaves. To curb the bitterness of the Guinness, two teaspoons of brown sugar. SUBTRACTED: Corn starch and water as I had planned to cook it all day and others mentioned that the sauce would reduce/thicken over time.

BUSH'S® Country Cornbread Hoppin' John

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2008
I really love this recipe as a side dish to fried pork chops or fried chicken. My family must have meat, but I could eat this as main dish by itself. I used the Bush's Blackeyed Peas with bacon as they have a lot of flavor and taste better than the peas without the bacon. Neither kind of Bush's Blackeyed Peas tasted like "dirt" as another reviewed said. Another reviewer gave a one star rating simply because of the sodium in the recipe. The reviewer didn't even say they made the recipe or tasted it. FYI... Sodium is not inherently bad, it is bad for those with high blood pressure. Consuming sodium does not cause high blood pressure. The bottom line is this recipe tastes good, is easy to make, and looks good on a plate when served like the photo.
