About this Cook
I have always enjoyed cooking for others. I owned a resturant for a few years. And after I lost my wife to a nursing home (brain injury-memory loss) cooking for other saved me from depression. The simplest joys in life can be the best medicine.
My favorite things to cook
I love grilling, baking, slow cooking and occasionally go out on a limb and try something off the beaten path.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I have been doing the turkey's for the holidays the past few years. I've deep fried them and brining and roasting have been most popular.
My cooking triumphs
Baking dessert is not my field and I was proudest of the bread pudding I made for xmas. The family just went crazy over it!
My cooking tragedies
I deep fried a turkey and I had to step away from the pot for about 5 minutes. A friend was watching it but didn't know what to do. It was a windy day and the wind died down and the flame shot up and the temp did too. I turned a perfectly good 10lb turkey into a cornish hen!!

Famous Meatballs
I used this recipe for a social potluck and card party for about 20 people. They raved about these meatballs and by the time it was over they were all gone! I've been requested to make them again and how simple! Thank You!!

Easy Garlic Broiled Chicken
I followed this as written except, I had a 10lb. bag of chicken hind quarters (leg/thigh. Thawed them and cut at the joint and skinned them. This gave me 20 pcs and I adjusted the recipe for that amount. I sprayed a lg metal shallow baking pan I have and arranged the chicken. I poured mixture over coating all pcs and then baked at 350 for 45 min. This chicken was to die for!! The market chicken was on special for .29 per lb!! So, the meat cost was $2.90 and I had everthing else on hand. Not only was it awesome it was extremely cost effective. The whole family wants it made again only in a much larger quantity for an upcoming family function. Thank you, it will be used here I can see many times again!!

Bread Pudding II
I am not much of a dessert maker but, I made this for Thanksgiving for our family gathering of 30. I made a batch for 48 and there was only enough left to divide up into small bowls for them to take home! I made it exactly to the directions and they went crazy over it! Thank You, Darwin
