Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2008
This bread has a nutty flavor and even my children, who do not like "wheat" bread, raved over it. One amazing thing about this bread is that unlike store purchased bread, it has no preservatives, yet it lasts for a very long time(7-10 days) on the counter before it begins to mold. I did learn a lesson about the use of my Artisan Kitchenaid mixer. It can not accomidate more than 8 cups of flour, so I had to half the recipe. Otherwise, the dough gets all jammed up in the workings and when it rises the dough pokes out of every nook and cranny. It was a MESS to clean! Don't try it! Thank you for this wonderful bread recipe!!!!

Apple Rhubarb Crumble

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2009
This crumble has been a frequent hit at our table. Even my children who think they don't like rhubarb, like this recipe. And apples are a much more common fruit in the average kitchen over strawberries. I add a 1/2 cup of oats to the crumble top and it makes it even better.

Creamy Pesto Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
After reading the other reviews I used half and half instead of sour cream and had plenty of sauce. I put the basil, pine nuts and 1/2 of the half and half in a food processor and it was wonderful. Would be plenty to put on pasta, if desired. Salt was needed.

My Amish Friend's Caramel Corn

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
This recipe is outstanding and always enjoyed to the very last kernal of corn. I substitute butter for the margarine. Butter makes everything better, I have to agree with Julia Child and Paula Dean. YUM, YUM!

Ruth's Grandma's Pie Crust

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
This is the BEST pie crust recipe I have ever made! I halved the recipe and had no trouble getting a double crust for a standard 9 inch pie dish. It made my rhubarb pie shine. Thank you for sharing.

The Best Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2012
I now have the recipe for potato salad that I've looked for all my life. This was fantastic!!! Thank you SO much for sharing. All those who ate it, loved it! Use a red onion to add color. Don't do the potatoes as recommended, rather peel potatoes and cube, then boil. Cooking time takes less and they cook more thoroughly. Put in the fridge to cool as well as the eggs. Then assemble ingredients.

Oatmeal Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2014
I've never liked peanut butter cookies, but these were good. I didn't give it 5 stars because I made all the modifications that ZJSGRAM suggested: butter-not margarine, extra flour-1/4 cup, add 1 tsp vanilla, butter flavored Crisco-not regular shortening, 1 cup chunky peanut butter and 1/2 cup creamy pb, extra 1/2 cup of oats added and 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips. I cooked them for 11 minutes and that was perfect. I rolled the cookies into 2 inch balls and then partially flattened them. It made 52 large cookies, so the cookies in this recipe had to be pretty small, considering all the extra ingredients I added. I think ZJSGRAM should publish this recipe as her own with all the good modifications. I understood that only one change to a recipe made it yours. Do try!
