About this Cook
I'm 32 years old and I cook mainly for myself and my husband. My mother's idea of cooking was always some kind of meat and potatoes. Always. So now I enjoy straying from my comfort zone and making dishes that are new to me.
My favorite things to cook
I love making so many recipes from this site. From the Bacon-Wrapped New Potatoes, the Italian Sausage Soup to the Spicy Turkey Burgers and all things in-between. I also love to bake cookies :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
One of my favorites is making our family's top-secret peanut butter candy with my Dad during the holidays. It's always a hit.
My cooking triumphs
Making a small Thanksgiving dinner for friends with a deboned fresh turkey breast. I put fresh herbs and butter under the skin and roasted it to delicious perfection. Probably my best meal yet.
My cooking tragedies
Accidentally using Cinnamon instead of Paprika...yikes.

Spicy Turkey Burgers
Love these! I sauté the onions, garlic, and chiles before adding to the turkey mixture but aside from that I keep to the recipe as written. I top with pepperjack cheese and serve with multigrain tortilla chips and guacamole. Good stuff.

Salad Pizza
This is headed in the right direction but is not quite there. I would suggest baking the pizza crust for about 2 minutes in the oven first. Then take it out, top with some fresh mozz. and then back in the oven for the required cook time written on the package. While it's baking you toss some arugula with some balsamic dressing and shaved parmigiano reggiano and when the pizza comes out of the oven you top with this salad. Let it sit for a minute or two and the hot cheese helps the salad stick. Boom, instant fantastic pizza and also good with a little prosciutto added with the salad (not baked.)

Bacon Wrapped New Potatoes
These were fantastic! I par-boiled the new potatoes and then instead of using ranch mix (which I find too salty) I coated them with olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper and then wrapped them with thick bacon (Wright's) and baked on a broiler pan in the oven for 20 minutes or so at 400 degrees. We dipped them in sour cream and they were to-die-for. Thanks!
