Baked Spiced Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
Very good! Made it with thigh meat and drumstick. I inserted some butter under the skin of each piece and turned them every 10 minutes for 40 minutes on a broiler pan. Very moist and flavorful!

Chicken Lo Mein

Reviewed: Aug. 17, 2009
Wow awesome! My mom used to own a chinese restaurant and it tasted very simular. I didn't have linguini noodles so i used regular spaghetti noodles. It definitely needed oyster sauce (appr 2 tsp-add in w/liquid ingredients) and maybe a little more soy sauce for taste. I used leftover BBQ chicken so that eliminated a step. I added ginger to the liquid part of ingredients and dumped it all in when all the veggies were cooked and noodles were added. This took me about 45 minutes start to finish. Great recipe-thanks! Don't forget the oyster sauce!

Baked Pork Chops I

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2009
Wonderful! I used thin porkchops to cut down on the cooking time and eyeballed all the ingredients. Served with mashed potatoes and veggies. Husband said it looked like something you eat dining out and kept going back for more. Will definitely make again!

Zesty Coleslaw

De-lish! I didn't have miracle whip (don't like it) but I did what another user suggested and added sour cream instead. Also added fresh cut broccoi, red onion for color(and taste!)and a little salt and pepper. Served with cajun catfish and sweet potato fries.

Albondigas

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2009
Wow! This was very good and easy! Even my 14yr old daughter that fought me on eating it because she 'doesn't like albondigas soup' had seconds! I used hot salsa and whoaaa...way too spicy (especially in already boiling soup). So for those that don't like it that spicy, go for the mild salsa. I had to correct it by taking away some broth and adding more water with another bouillon cube and a little sugar to balance out the spiciness. Other than that the only thing I changed was I added a little salt to the meatballs and added cabbage to the soup towards the end. This is my first attempt at this soup and my family loved it. Will definitely make this again!

Very good! I added more spices to give it more of an italian taste and some shredded parmesan to top it off.

Taco Seasoning I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
Very good! I ran out of the packet stuff and didn't have time to make the seasoning ahead of time, so I of course seasoned the meat as it cooked. My family loved it also as ground beef burrito seasoning. The selling point was when my husband gobbled down 5 tacos and half of my burrito and my daughter said I don't need to by the packaged stuff anymore ;). Thanks!

Spanish Rice Original

Just made this tonight. It was very good! Left out bell pepper, corn and olives (didn't have any). Next time I will try the recipe with all of the ingredients. YUM!

Raisin Bran Chewies Cookies

This was soooo good! I did mess up on the first batch by forgetting the second cup of flour , but the cookies were still divine! I used margarine instead of shortening to give it more of a buttery taste. Perfect!

Pistachio Cake IV

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
Very good. Would have liked to taste more chocolate and pistachio flavor instead of the yellow cake mix. I even added more cocoa powder to the recipe for more of a chocolatey taste, but the yellow cake taste came out nonetheless. I poured the easy cake glaze from another recipe on this site and it was delish!

Apple Cake IV

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
Good cake. Too sweet even with GS apples. And it might have had something to do with what I did, but it crumbled and was hard to cut (probably because apples were sliced instead of cubed). Not too many second helpings with this one though. Maybe I'll try tweeking it a little next time. Thanks for the recipe.

Sage Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
Very good, but very salty. I had to keep adding water after I poured in the beef boullion. I even added a little sugar to balance out the salt. After trying to cook out the liquid, the pork chop were really dry. Then I took another users advice and added some cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Overall it was good and the family loved it despite the salt. I think next time I won't salt the pork chops as much. Will definitely make it again! Thanks for the wonderful recipe!!!

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: May 21, 2008
My husband doesn't really care for apple pie, but he LOVED this one! He had one slice then couldn't help himself and ate a whole half pie by HIMSELF! The only adjustments I made was I added cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg as others suggested. I've tried it before with the sweeter apples and it just wasn't as good as the granny smith apples. That balanced out the sweetness of the sauce. I didn't have enough dough to make any top crust so I left it out. Goes to show that it was so good either way and so easy! Thanks again!

Extreme Banana Nut Bread 'EBNB'

Reviewed: May 4, 2008
YUM! The only thing I changed was I added 2 tblsp of real maple syrup and instead of 2 cups of sugar, I did 1 1/2 cups white sugar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar to it with a dash of cinnamon and I used butter instead of margarine. This is definitely not for dieters! My husband loved it! Will definitely make this again. Thanks for sharing!

Tomato Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2007
Pretty good. My husband said it's very similar to swiss steak that his mom used to make for him. I didn't find it salty at all and I added garlic salt as I browned the meat. Also, I cooked the onion and garlic with the meat for more flavor on the meat. I didn't even need the corstarch because the sauce thickened up quite a bit. I added 1 tsp of sugar to balance the tanginess and salt. It didn't need to be cooked for 55 min. I cooked it for 30 (husband was starving) as I prepared other things. Then served it over rice.

Traditional Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2007
I've never made salisbury steak EVER before nor do I eat it, but it turned out pretty good. I used fresh mushrooms intead of can. My husband loved it. He eats the frozen kind and said it doesn't even compare. Next time I'll season the meat a little more. The sauce had to be fixed up a little too from not measuring (never do)and putting too much ketchup. But I fixed it and just ended up with more sauce. DARN! LOL!

Skillet Pork Chops with Potatoes and Onion

Reviewed: Oct. 16, 2007
A hit with my family! I actually used 6 thin pork chops with this recipe. I seasoned the pork chops with salt and pepper before I floured them and added a little more water to the beef bouillon mixture so that it wouldn't get too salty. Wasn't sure about the lemon, so I left it out. Turned out awesome. Really easy that even my cullinary challenged husband can make it! I'd definitely make it again.
