I'm from SoCal, but about 10 years ago fell head over heels for the San Francisco Bay area where I currently live with the love of my life and our little furball. Cooking and baking are passion #1, though I certainly don't have the guts to do it professionally. #2 is holistic health as it relates to massage and hypnotherapy. What do all of these things have in common? If someone walks away with a smile on their face and their day just a bit brighter, then you've done it right :)
My favorite things to cook
I love baking! Cookies, cakes, cupcakes, pies, breads, muffins just about anything! I have tried to expand a bit, but of course there's always so much more in the realm of cooking! ;)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Christmas my mother and I would take a day and make various candies. Peanut brittle and divinity among others. No matter how it turned out (usually interesting rather then "wow"), it was always fun to eat!
My cooking triumphs
Lots! At least to me :p Pies, meat filled buns, made from scratch cinnamon rolls, pasties! But the true test is the break rooms. If I can put out a platter of something and not have any to bring back home then its a home run in my book :D
My cooking tragedies
Oh there have been many! Mac & Cheese soup (from the box and homemade, I can't seem to get it right), a peach cobbler that could have been soup with a crust, and a particular batch of Oatmeal raisin cookies that I made with melted butter instead of softened (apparently there's a difference lol)

French Bread
Just pulled these out of the over about 3 minutes ago and couldn't wait to taste! It turned out delicious! Only thing I did different was to proof the yeast before adding the flour and it turned out just fine. This is a great way to stretch your baking legs a bit ^_^

Mall Pretzels
Just pulled these out of the oven and YUM! Did take a while, but I think they are perfect for a lazy day :) Used my Kitchenaid hook for the kneading, rolling them took a bit a patience and practice. Couldn't seem to get them thin enough to look like "professional" grade, not that it mattered as they certainly tasted like it! Thank you so much for posting!
