Favorite Banana Blueberry Quick Bread

Reviewed: May 13, 2010
I really wanted to like this recipe because I love blueberries and bananas. But unfortunately these two flavors were not meant to be. And the texture of the oats was not quite the quick bread I am used to. Very easy to make though and the only reason I gave it three stars is because of my own personal preferences.

Cherry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2008
This was really good. We used chopped glazed almonds instead of pecans because we had them on hand. I think it gave it a nice flavor, but I am sure pecans would have been good too.

Bacon Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jan. 10, 2008
I am kind of torn between 3 and 4 stars. I think this recipe is a really good base, but I did change some things after making it once. The soup doesn’t have much flavor, so when we made it the second time, we used almost twice the bacon and cut back a bit on the potatoes. We also put in some garlic with the potatoes and onions. We thought that the cubed potatoes were a little much, so we coarsely shredded them instead. The first time we used some frozen bread dough we had at home and the dumplings turned out great. The next time we used the biscuit dough like the recipe recommended and they didn’t seem to ever cook all the way through even through we let them simmer for longer than recommended. So I guess next time, we will probably use more bacon, add some garlic, shred the potatoes and use bread dough instead of biscuit dough.

Beef Tenderloin With Roasted Shallots

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2007
I thought this would be much better. The sauce was extremely salty and we use low sodium for everything. I think we will try it once more to see if it was something we did wrong, but I just wasn't very happy with it.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2007
We were really hungry, so we cut up the chicken and cooked it with the garlic while we prepared the sauce. Once everthing was mixed together we poured it over the chicken and cooked it until it thickened. We also added a little bit of honey towards the end. Over white rice this was easy and great.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Dec. 13, 2007
This recipe was really good. We put some chopped up ports in it, so we probably should have made a little more sauce, but it was really yummy. Thanks!

White Chocolate Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2007
I had the same problem as everyone else, it wouldn't set. Even leaving it in the fridge all night long it was still very sticky and very soft. My husband is a big fan of white chocolate and he did like the flavor, but said it was very sweet. Maybe if we can find something to make it a little stiffer this would be a keeper.

Irish Cream Truffle Fudge

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2007
I think this is a great recipe and it was easy to make. I didn't use nuts and I only made the bottom layer because I didn't need as many servings, but everyone really liked it. The first night after I made it, it was a little strong on the Irish Cream flavor, but the next morning it was better. I actually used 3/4 cup Irish Cream and 1/4 chocolate liquor. Thank you.

Autumn Cheesecake

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
This recipe is great. We followed some of the other recommendations to put the apples under or layered in the cheesecake mixture. The first time we tried it I left a few pieces of apple scattered over the top and they were a little chewy. But the ones inside the mixture were soft and delicious. If you leave the pecans out of the crust, make sure to use more graham crackers (my crust was a little thin). I also drizzled caramel over the crust and apple layers. It was a big hit. Thank you!

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
This is a great way to cook turkey! We added some garlic, basil and parsley overnight with the water and salt. We also just put a cut onion in the turkey and one in the roasting pan no other veggies. To the white wine, we added some chicken stock to keep it moist in the oven from the start. I will defiantly cook our turkey like this from now on. Thank you!

Garlic Parmesan Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2007
I thought this recipe was really yummy. :) The first time I had it to high in the oven and it cooked the top nice, but the insides were not quite done. I also forgot to spray the pan, so it did stick. But everyone ate what they could and loved it. The second time I put in on the bottom rack for the recommended time and then moved it to the top rack for another 10 minutes to brown the top. My family loves garlic so I used more than the recommended amount. We also use a garlic blend, so I didn't add salt. There could have been a little more mixture to roll the balls into, but we scraped by with what was made. We didn't have plain parmesan on hand, so we used a 5 cheese blend and it worked great. My mother-in-law even wanted the recipe. Thank you!

Anniversary Chicken I

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2007
I really liked this one. I wasn't sure I would, because I am not a huge fan of teriyaki, but it went really well. Next time I think I will mix the ranch and teriyaki together before putting over the chicken breast instead of just pouring on the ranch after. As others have mentioned, we used real bacon and put the bacon and cheese on for the last 10 minutes. Thanks so much!

Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2007
This is very good! I changed a couple of things (because of lack of supplies), but I really liked it this way. In the meatloaf, we used crushed croutons instead of breadcrumbs. In the sauce we used Rich and Sassy BBQ instead of ketchup and apricot preserves instead of the pineapple. Yum, Thanks!
