Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2012
I made this recipe as is and it is excellent! This recipe beats any restaurant pancakes I have had. These pancakes will dis-appear fast, especially if you add some blueberries! yum!

German Sweet Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Mar. 28, 2011
Wow! What a cake! I do have to say that using a 9X13 pan is impractical. The baking time given (30 minutes) is for 2-4 round 9 inch pans, not one sheet cake. As a sheet cake it takes closer to an hour to bake!! The topping is absolutely delicious! I love the Evaporated milk instead of what i've seen in other recipes!

Garlic Dill New Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 22, 2011
Try melting your butter in a frying pan and adding the garlic and dill. Saute on medium/low heat, being careful not to brown the garlic. This will draw out the flavors in the spices, if you do not have time to put the potatoes in the oven after steaming. Great recipe!

New York Cheesecake III

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
this cheesecake is VERY tastey! First try at a cheesecake and not a single crack or bubble problem. I followed another reviewer and did half chocolate half white. I also used a water bath AND left the oven off and closed for a good 3 hours. BEFORE mixing chocolate into half the dough, i took the whole bowl and rammed it against the floor about 20-30 times. you will begin to see the little bubbles come to the top and pop out of your batter. For cook time, i did 475 for 10 minutes, then 350 for 30 and then 200 for 30 min. it was still too soft in the middle (couldn't cut it properly) so next time i will leave it at 350 i think.

Peppy's Pita Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
mmmm yummmy! other than unlevened Naan bread, i've never attempted a flat bread before. You should've seen my face when i saw these baloons in my oven as I opened it! I didn't have a paper bag, and decided against the towel thanks to another reviewer. I used an insulated cloth shopping bag that zips shut, and just threw a tea towel in the bottom of it! it worked great, and my pita's were moist and delish!

Tzatziki Sauce II

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2010
wow! i've never made Tzatziki sauce before, but i absolutely loved this recipe! it tastes WAAY better than the stuff at restaraunts! a couple of things i tweaked. i didn't have mint...fresh OR dried. what i DID have was a mint tea bag! i added a bit of that to the tzatziki sauce. i also only let my yogurt sit for maybe 45 minutes in coffee filters. i did however ring out my cucumer shreds quite thoroughly to make up for the yogurt liquid. i followed another reviewer and added a bit of lemon juice and dill to the sauce. THEN i used all the same spices while frying up my chicken for fresh pitas!

Chicken and Corn Chowder with Thyme

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
great recipe! my husband loved it! it's great with a few pieces of red pepper thrown in too! I used home made chicken broth, and only 3 cups of corn (four seemed like a lot!). I also cut my potatoes really small (hash-brown sized) because I don't like biting into a chunk of potato! The last thing I did was use whip cream and skim milk instead of half and half, because thats what i had on hand. I found i had to add starch to it to thicken it too. The results were just barely below curdling. I'm not sure if this is because i boiled it, or because of the starch.

Chocolate Puffed Wheat Squares

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2010
I took the advice of other readers and doubled the saucy stuff! ;) I also added two tsp vanilla, and replaced the unhealthy corn syrup with honey! The honey does make it a bit sweeter, but it's much healthier than corn syrup, and it has a nice light honey flavor!
