Best Brownies

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2014
After such mixed reviews…I had to give this a try. In the oven now, smells amazing in here! Even the batter was good :) (I know, I'm probably going to die from eating raw eggs, but I'll take my chances :) ) I'll finish this review when I get my glass of milk poured and the brownies out of the oven. Probably won't frost them, but I can't see how 1 T of honey is going to skew the frosting recipe THAT much (like so many reviewers pointed out). We'll see…..stand by…… Later….I don't know what to tell the folks that could not manage to get this recipe to work out….they are great. Not cake like, not flat and dense. If it looks like a brownie, and smells like a brownie, and acts like a brownie, it is indeed most likely a brownie. Goodbye Betty Crocker…hello homemade! Thanks Angie for a great recipe.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2012
Tried and true. We have used chive cream cheese, fat free cream cheese and now will try the dry ranch mixed into fat free cream cheese. I get a pkg of sandwich sliced ham and wrap the poppers in that now instea dof the bacon....MUCH easier and nothing but rave reviews. ALso, we do parboil them, to take some of the heat out. Made again and again in our home....

Gobble Up Granola Snacks

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
OK...follow one reviewer and upped the ingredients to 2/3 cup honey, 2/3 cup brown sugar and 2/3 cup peanut butter. Used super crunch PB. Added about a cup of sliced almonds and stirred, stirred, stirred. Topped the bars in the pan with a sprinkle of mini chocolate chips. Sent them to work in my husbands lunch box and got rave reviews. Thanks TINAMARIES for sharing

Famous Chicken Adobo

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Excellent recipe! Added more garlic (we like garlic) and @ 1 T of brown sugar (to make more of a teriyaki twist), omitted the pepper (add it at the table if you want it!) and used only 1/3 cup of regular soy sauce because I didn't have any lite. I just needed a basic recipe to get me started. After living in the Philipines, this made the cut! Thanks angelaBBf

Burger or Hot Dog Buns

Reviewed: May 9, 2009
I threw everything in my bread maker on the dough cycle, did not "proof" the yeast", shaped them after the 1 1/2 hours in the dough maker and let them rise about an hour in my rather cool house. Came out perfect. Easy enough for a beginner if you don't get wrapped around the details. Just follow the original recipe, but let rise an hour after the first kneading and 30-45 minutes after shaping and you'll do fine. Not heavy at all, in fact, I thought they were rather fluffy. I won't buy buns again.

Hockey Pucks

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2009
A trick I have discovered....put a stack of crackers spread out on a kitchen towel, then fill a pastry/icing bag with the peanut butter and squeeze a dollop of peanut butter on each cracker (the towel keeps them from scooting all over the counter), top with second cracker and dip. I also melt the chocolate in my electric fondue pot. Use low setting and it works great.

Oatmeal Carmelitas

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
After reading the reviews, I had to try them. They are great! I ate the first one out of the pan with a spoon while still hot (how good can THAT be!), the next ones in my lunch bag (crumbly but good) and the rest of them after sitting out on the counter. (Again, crumbly, but SO worth it). Followed the recipe as written, except did not measure the carmel or mix it with flour, just squeezed it out on the dough right from the bottle. Too much butter? Not that I could see. I didn't have to "blot" my crust after taking out from the first baking. A delicious, rich, satisfying cookie. Thanks Sharon M for sharing!

Cranberry Orange Loaf

Pretty good. I used cranbery sauce (1 1/2 cups) like one reader suggested and it turned out SUPER moist! We had it with dinner the next night and everyone had favorable comments.

Thin Mint Crackers

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2007
I wasn't overjoyed with this. Personal tastes I'm sure. I tried Ritz crackers and the chocolate wafers and actually like it with the crackers better, but again...personal tastes. The recipe was easy enough - I used the Andes chips and Nestles Mint Chocolate Chips and a little bit of Crisco
