Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2010
Great soup and so easy! I did what others did and added some whole black beans and corn and used chicken broth because that's what I had on hand, and it turned out amazing. Even my picky 6yo brother loved it! I will definitely make this again.

Orange Rosemary Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
Though my chicken didn't turn out so well, I'm still going to give this recipe 4 stars because I believe any errors were my doing and not the recipe. I used boneless skinless chicken breasts and the marinade gave them a really nice flavour. I did mine on the stove in a grill pan and they turned out a little dry but I'm pretty sure I overcooked them. Also, make sure you salt the chicken again before you cook it or else it will be bland. The recipe makes a lot of marinade so I think next time i'll half it. Other than that, I would definitely try this recipe again (with a few adjustments).

Hot Curried Tuna Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Good recipe! I omitted the celery because I'm not much of a fan and just used regular whole wheat bread. My family was pretty skeptical when they saw me making it for my lunch (curry's fine, but with tuna?) but it turned out great and I proved them wrong. Will definitely make again!

Healthy Alfredo Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Just a few notes: 1 cup of SKIM milk not skimmed, and it's done in 15 minutes not 0 (but wouldn't that be great!). I personally used tzatziki sauce when I made it and it turned out great, nice and thick with a bit of a tang.

Apple Turnovers

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
These were awesome! I had some left over apple filling but I didn't hate it because it was so versatile (crepes, cake topping, even by itself). They turned out a lot bigger then I expected but I just cut them in half. My family isn't big on dessert and they loved it and I brought them to school and had nothing left. I think that speaks for itself!

Taco Turkey Wraps

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
Great recipe! Like other reviewers, I also added shredded lettuce and tomato. I didn't have taco seasoning so I improvised with some chili powder, garlic powder, onion powder, seasoned salt and pepper. Delicious, so easy and if you use non-fat sour cream it's healthy too! Loved it and have already made it many times.

Balsamic Glazed Carrots

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This recipe was really good! I followed other reviewers' reccomendations to steam the carrots first before sauteeing them to cut down on the cooking time. I sauteed them with olive oil and a little butter ('cause that always makes things better) and instead of brown sugar, I stirred in some honey and maple syrup. Absolutely delish! I have already made it for Thanksigiving and Christmas and will definitely keep making it!

Happy Birthday Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 21, 2008
This cake came out beautifully, but I only gave it 4 stars because I had to make a lot of adjustments. First of all, make sure to soften the butter before you mix it. This makes it easier to work with and helps melt the sugar. Secondly, I would decrease the amount of sugar in this recipe by about half a cup because it turned out very sweet. Thirdly, I had to add an extra half cup of milk to the recipe to smooth out the batter. And lastly, it was necessary for me to increase the cooking time by an extra 20 minutes before it was done. However, with all of those adjustments, the cake turned out very moist, fluffy and sweet. I will definitely make this again!

The Old Boy's Strawberry Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2007
I made this recipe for Thanksgiving and it turned out perfect! I followed what other users said and used less flour and brown sugar instead of white. It was absoulutely delicious. And it looked good too!
