I am a married mother of two, I grew up in the kitchen along side of my Great Grandmother, I am the only one in my my family in my generation that can really cook.
My favorite things to cook
Good old southern, Italian, Chinese, traditional German and everything that tastes great in between.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Beans and Hamhocks like my great grandmother taught me, but thanks to Paula Dean, prices went up, so, I sometimes substitute with smoked hogjaw, either way, it tastes great, with homemade cornbread NO SUGAR. Or simple biscuits and white gravy
My cooking triumphs
Learning that it's not the famous five star restaurants, or word famous chef's recipes and dishes that makes everyone love your cooking, it's the simple ones that you love creating, and put the time and love into each dinner.
I am proud I can cook anything from easy, simple homemade dishes, to elaborate ones you see on TV, but in the end, I love the ones I grew up with more than anything else.
Always find the food you enjoy, otherwise you will never know how much fun cooking really can be.
My cooking tragedies
In all fairness, it was a macaroni salad, and my husband was on noodle duty, and he scorched them =( So, not my fault, but it's still my kitchen XD
