About this Cook
I am a married mother of two, I grew up in the kitchen along side of my Great Grandmother, I am the only one in my my family in my generation that can really cook.
My favorite things to cook
Good old southern, Italian, Chinese, traditional German and everything that tastes great in between.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Beans and Hamhocks like my great grandmother taught me, but thanks to Paula Dean, prices went up, so, I sometimes substitute with smoked hogjaw, either way, it tastes great, with homemade cornbread NO SUGAR. Or simple biscuits and white gravy
My cooking triumphs
Learning that it's not the famous five star restaurants, or word famous chef's recipes and dishes that makes everyone love your cooking, it's the simple ones that you love creating, and put the time and love into each dinner. I am proud I can cook anything from easy, simple homemade dishes, to elaborate ones you see on TV, but in the end, I love the ones I grew up with more than anything else. Always find the food you enjoy, otherwise you will never know how much fun cooking really can be. -Nolthria
My cooking tragedies
In all fairness, it was a macaroni salad, and my husband was on noodle duty, and he scorched them =( So, not my fault, but it's still my kitchen XD

Cooked Pumpkin
ROTFL oh I love the list of ingredients! You can do this in the oven as suggest, or you can steam it, if you are doing breads, pancakes or pie, it's usually best to steam, but if you are using it for soup or other foods, oven is usually the best. Since it's fall, it's pumpkin season, and to be honest, everyone, and I mean everyone should learn how to cook a pumpkin, pumpkin is just as versatile as a tomato, the possibilities are unlimited, you can even make pumpkin enchilada sauce! Cook a pumpkin in the oven with beef stew inside (Heaven, be sure to add a turnip to the soup, really brings out the flavors!) this is the perfect recipe for everyone to start with... Why are you still reading this? Go cook your pumpkin!

Heavenly White Cake
This recipe is from a 50s cookbook that I have, I actually made this recipe for my husband's birthday, giving it a try, instead of 3/4 C butter, it calls for shortening (The original recipe), but the exact same amount of each ingredient, butter or shortening it's okay, not the best. But I am giving my rating to the original person who printed it in the 50s since it's their recipe.

Buttermilk Pancakes II
It's a great, great recipe. But I prefer my batter thinner than this for softer, fluffy pancakes. Just add buttermilk/milk combo until you get the thickness you like. All in all it's going into my recipe book.
