I am a mom (first and foremost), wife, daughter, sister, and friend. I love to spend time with my family... and those I consider family. I work in an accounting office, my hubby is a vehicle mechanic. Been married for 10 years now and a mom for eight.
We live a simple life and enjoy every minute of it!
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook - period! So, I have many favorites.
My kids love homemade chicken noodle soup with homemade noodles. I am not allowed to buy canned or frozen soups. They say they just aren't good!
My most favorite foods to make are probably desserts... Who doesn't love dessert?
My favorite family cooking traditions
One family tradition is New Year's Day dinner - pork and sauerkraut!! One of the meals that nearly everyone we know comes over to our house for, our small house is almost bursting at the seams on that day!!
My brother and I have cooked together for years... It's a Thursday night tradition, most weeks we plan the meal for days ahead. Oh yum!
My cooking triumphs
I love to and am not afraid to try new recipes! I feel that if I don't try something new, I may be missing out on a great meal for my family that we all love... Sometimes, they flop... Generally, I can alter them for our taste. It's a real sense of accomplishment to try something new when it works out!
My cooking tragedies
We had a big family birthday party for my son's first birthday and wanted to grill chicken... Long story short - the chicken wasn't thawed and it nearly took 45 minutes to thaw it on my microwave "thaw" setting. It was so cold out that evening that the "old" grill couldn't keep up. To put it mildly the chicken ended up raw, bloody on the indside and burnt on the outside. We gave up after what seemed to be hours of trying and ordered pizza!! Thanks to my family for how understanding they are - they just kept trying to help!!
