About this Cook

Started cooking a couple of years ago when I was pregnant with my son. I was a complete novice and I didn't want to be giving him chicken nuggets for his first Christmas! My main aim now that I'm a SAHM is to get my husband to say "wow, that is the best food I have ever eaten in my life". Still waiting...

My favorite things to cook

I love to bake more than I like to cook. I'm addicted to baking cookies and cakes. Still haven't been brave enough to attempt a pie with a real homemade crust yet!

My cooking tragedies

Rice - unless it comes in a packet and into the microwave! I can never seem to cook perfect rice.

Pan-Seared Chicken Breasts with Shallots

Very good, just a bit bland. No leftovers so that says something! I did dredge the chicken breasts in flour, salt and pepper. Would make again.

Slow Cooker Herbed Turkey Breast

Superb, husband loves it. I use dried herbs instead of fresh. Have had trouble getting hold of a decent sized turkey breast so have made with turkey steaks (adjusted cooking time) as well a huge butterflied breast I found for sale at the butchers (put the required ingredients inside then rolled and tied before putting into the slow cooker).

French Baguettes

Superb - makes excellent and tasty french bread. Compared to store bought they taste far less salty which makes me wonder exactly how much salt the stores are using! Plan on making these again. Looking forward to lunch tomorrow.
