Stir in 1 pkg of a Taco Seasoning packet to the refried beans then spread in a 13x9" pan. Really adds good flavor.

Simple Macaroni Salad

awesome, I added 1 table spoon sugar (makes it richer) and you can vary this with cooked chopped bacon or cooked chopped chicken breast added.

Aunt Betty's French Dressing

Reviewed: Jun. 26, 2008
Very good, make it early in the day or day before so the flavors marry up. Now that's French Dressing.

Chicken and Bacon Shish Kabobs

Reviewed: May 29, 2008
very good, I see other cooks making kabobs & marinating raw meat w/veggies in the same bag, I wouldn't recommend this at all, if the bacon is an issue for past cooks using this recipe I would suggest using 'pre-cooked' ready to eat bacon, still flexible enough to wrap around chicken. good recipe.

Bachelor Grilled Cheese

Reviewed: Mar. 5, 2008
I've done this before but before you place into the microwave, spread mayonaise on inside of bread, add sliced ham or roasted turkey with a few sliced green olives. Microwave till cheese is melted. Good sammy.

Pork Chops for the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2008
try 1/4 cup of soy sauce, 1/4 cup of orange juice and 1 heaping tablespoon of dry lipton onion soup mix w/the other ingredients. Other than that it's a good base, if the sauce is too runny like other cooks mentioned then stir a bit of corn starch in with the soy sauce or juice prior to cooking in the crock pot. Easy Peasy !

Tater Tot Hot Dish I

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
I add 2 Tablespoons of dry Lipton onion mix to the soup mixture and 1 tablespoon worchestire sauce as well. Wasn't this called originally the "Firemans Casserole"? With that recipe it called to add 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese the last 5 min. of baking. Good Stuff!

Apple Nut Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 21, 2008
I have one similar to this. It's a family favorite and co-worker favorite. For some reason I find if I add the sugar atop of the bread before I bake it, it sinks a bit...so I do a light glaze instead. Generally, 1/2 cup confections sugar, 1/2 teas vanilla or almond extract and 1/2 teas cinnamen add a little water enough to make a drizzle and put over the bread after it cools for 15-20 min. Awesome. So I just used 1 cup of sugar for this recipe.

Oven Pot Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
wow, this was awesome. I used my dutch oven using 1/2 olive oil and 1/2 butter to brown. I did a 1/2 beef- 1/2 pork roast. I added carrots right from the start, followed directions to a tee. This was perfect. Big raves. Thanks.

Onion Roasted Sweet Potatoes

I've done this same recipe using red potatoes, the soup mix gives it an awesome flavor. Good recipe. I may try the boxed vegetable soup mix and oil on cut up russet potatoes now too. Endless.

Simply Lasagna

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2007
Came out perfect. I agree that it isn't enough Ricotta (per video)for all 12 pieces of noodles, so I just added a 1/2 container more (or do smaller spoonfuls), I did italian blended cheese instead of just all mozzerella (made it 2x)and it turns out great. Nice not to have to boil the noodles anymore.

Good Base, but to thin it out use 1 to 2 cans of Beef Broth. Love the crock pot idea.

Allison's Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Oct. 31, 2007
I was looking for a pasta salad to make for our thanksgiving dinner this year and after trying other recipes with grapes (yes, suggest seedless red grapes) this is the one. I agree tweaking the dressing a bit w/lemon juice and a little celery salt. How can you go wrong adding cheese and ham. Come on :)

Banana Nut Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2007
This turned out actually pretty good. I did go thru the other reviews. My only changes were, I did cut back on the sugar to a little over 1 cup. I did add 1 teas of apple pie spice, and added 1/2 teas apple pie spice as well, to my own cream cheese/10x sugar glaze with a little white vanilla. I used cake flour instead of all purpose, but I am sure using all purpose would have been fine as well. Good job!
