Married 39 years to my high school sweetheart. 3 children, 5 grandchildren. Work full time, love to cook for my family & friends.
My favorite things to cook
Comfort foods are my speciality. Everything from Fried Chicken to Stir Fry's to Italian and Mexican dishes. Love making different kinds of quick breads and pound cakes. This website is full of great recipes and great cooks.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Definitely Christmas time. Fudge, Chex Mix, cookies, chocolate dipped pretzel rods, saltine toffee, pumpkin, banana & egg nog quick breads, etc;
My cooking triumphs
Crock pot Swiss Steak, homeade cakes, banana nut bread, and I made my parents anniversary cake several years ago. It was beautiful. I haven't made another one since, my gosh that was some work.
My cooking tragedies
1st year married, I burned brownies,used baking soda instead of flour to thicken gravy (ugh)then began to read every cookbook I could get my hands on and tried thousands of recipes. My poor husband was the taste tester.

Banana Crumb Muffins
These were great, the only changes I made was to add dried cranberries and chopped walnuts and 1 teas of cinnamen, took a little longer to cook and I actually got 1 dozen instead of 10. Thanks, Lisa.

Chewy Peanut Butter Brownies
these were excellent, made these for a co workers birthday. Maybe some mini chocolate chips next time I make them or some chocolate frosting?

Seasoned Turkey Burgers
This is exactly how I do my turkey burgers. To avoid dryness though, the trick is to add 1 tablespoon olive oil to the mix. Sometimes instead of soy sauce I'll do worchestire sauce or a couple tablespoons of barb-q sauce. I add 1 teas of fresh garlic too. Yum.
