About this Cook
My husband and I own a lodge in Alaska, so I get to cook for lots of people which is fun. I am always trying new recipes for breakfast and salmon and halibut, which we eat all summer long!!!
My favorite things to cook
I really enjoy making meals for our guests....I cook a lot of fish and game, and I really enjoy it. I really enjoy coming up with new salmon recipes and find that I am getting good at it!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We work with the Catch a Dream foundation, and we host a dinner for each family that we have. Those times have become very special to me, because I get to have new helpers in the kithcen, and we all get to pull together and make a beautiful meal for a very deserving family! VERY rewarding!!!
My cooking triumphs
I am very lucky because I usually recieve a lot of accalades for my cooking from our guests which is nice...but my heart just bursts whith joy when my 5 year old tells me how good something is!!!!
My cooking tragedies
Oddly, I overcooked french fries one night, and my husband ate them anyway....the whole time he acted as if he was doing the big dinner scene from "Christmas Vacation" and it really made me laugh about my mistake!!!

After the Holidays Ham Bone Soup
I boiled the ham bone for 15 minutes,then transferred it to my crockpot. Added a variety of veggies, some spices, and a can of tomatoes with basil, oregeno, and a bit of garlic...I only used rice, which I added the last two hours..at the end, I added a can of tomato sauce and a can of spicey V8..wow!! Fantastic!!

Vernita's Broccoli Casserole
I had planned to eat leftovers the next day...but there weren't any!! I added 1 can cream of celery soup, substitued milk for the water, and used fresh brocolli (2 stalks) instead of frozen. I added some Italian spice for flavor, and cut the cheese in half....my husband asked if we could have it for T-Day!!!!

Blue Cheese Chicken Wing Dip
Wow! I made this for my girlfriend's birthday, and even the guys who don't like blue cheese couldn't stop eating it!! The next time I make it, I will cut it in half, but otherwise, it's great!
