Bacon Wrapped Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
I really should have followed my instincts on this one! I'm giving it three stars because the recipe came out well and I know there are double-Whopper with cheese people who will enjoy it, but this recipe was not for me. I followed the advice of several...seared the chops first with a bit of the bacon grease, adding garlic salt and pepper, and I used a sharp cheddar cheese because, like many, we don't have a cheez-whiz product in the house. However, if you are looking at the recipe and thinking heavy, cholesterol, or "I don't like bacon and cheese together" then this might not be one you want to try because it is all that. (I ate half a boneless loin chop and that was plenty.) I believe next time I will go for more of a fruit or a tomato, feta, basil type topping for my pork chops. I'm glad so many like this one, it's just not for me....but it's easy and I'm sure it's a kid pleaser!

Sunflower Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
Wonderful cookie! I did not add no comment there. I did not have vanilla so I added almond extract with gave the cookie another layer of nutty flavor! YUM. Then I experimented.... I made some plain (my husband will love) I made some with chocolate chips -- they are good I made some with butterscotch chips - fabulous I made some with raisins - awesome. What a GREAT recipe! Thanks.

Yummy Peanut Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 5, 2010
This recipe is fabulous! I followed precisely, including using the almond extract. If you aren't accustomed to baking with almond, you won't miss it, but if you use it regularly (like I do) you'll know it's there! Wonderful addition to the recipe. After baking 1/2 the recipe, I added mini-choco chips to the second 1/2. Good stuff! Thanks for the recipe. It's a keeper!

Easy Lemon Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2008
These were simple and good. I prepared a plated luncheon with a brownie and one of these Easy Lemon Cookies on each dessert plate -- and they were a hit. I, too, substituted fresh lemon and zest as suggested by another contributor. One of the luncheon guests said they knew there had to be fresh lemon in it. Great recipe! (Just don't under bake them.)

Chocolate Scotcheroos

Have made these for years from an old German village church cookbook. Always loved. Always a hit. Don't leave out the butterscotch chips -- they make all the difference. Enjoy!

Apple Crisp IV

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2007
Exceptional recipe. Taking the advice of other reviews I cut back on the flour. The difference in turn-out as reviewed by others probably more to do with the type of apples used. Some have more moisture than others. Here's a great tip: After putting 1/2 the crisp on the bottom of the pan, add finely chopped nuts for the top. I used both pecans and walnuts. What a delight!
