Hershey's ® 'Perfectly Chocolate' Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: May 15, 2005
I would actually like to rate this as 4 1/2 stars. This recipe produces a really good cake, not the best but close to it. The first day the cake seemed to be lacking something and didn't have much flavor, but it was moist. I thought I would be disappointed. However, the flavors seemed to develop and set overnight. This is a good recipe for those who are looking for a medium-flavored chocolate cake and not too sweet. The frosting is awesome! I usually don't care for frosting, but I had to resist licking the bowl. For this recipe, it is a perfect balance because I think if the cake were on the sweet side, the entire cake would be more like Claim Jumper's Mother Load (which is what I am looking for.)

Carrot Pineapple Cake I

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2004
There's a lot going on in this recipe. The pineapple is very subtle; the coconut really accentuates the texture. I think if the coconut was omitted, the cake might be less intense. But I think that's the purpose of this recipe. The amount of nuts in this recipe is perfect for someone who loves nuts. I don't, however, and if I ever make this again, I will half the amount of nuts. This is not for someone looking for a simple, good carrot cake.

Pumpkin Bread IV

Reviewed: Nov. 21, 2004
So far, this is my favorite pumpkin bread recipe. Medium spice, very moist. I added fresh cranberries for contrast and nuts for texture. Definitely a keeper.

Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

If you're looking for a pumpkin "spice" bread recipe, this is it. Taste kind of like a cross between pumpkin bread and spice cake. Very good.

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2003
Personally, I hate pudding, but this, I will eat. This recipe is just as easy as the box pudding but it taste better (according to my pudding-freak boyfriend)! Don't forget to add the butter, it makes a difference. I forgot to add the butter, and the thought the pudding tasted just "okay." But then I remembered and a final tasting proved all the raves to be true. I also added 1 oz of semisweet for a deeper chocolate flavor.

Deep Dark Chocolate Cookies

These are all right. Not the best chocolate chocolate chip cookies, but not bad either. I thought it wasn't sweet enough.

Giant Crisp Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2003
If you're looking for a crispy cookie, this recipe is a very good choice. The texture is perfect, smooth and not too crispy but not soft either. I have tried over 40 CC cookie recipes, and this is one of the few chocolate chip cookie recipes that I am really pleased with. However, I would omit the salt and I used 1 cup sugar and 1/2 cup light brown sugar.

Caramel Snack Mix

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2002
This is a really good if you're looking for a SWEET snack mix, not caramel. If you're looking for a "caramel" party mix, use the Caramel Corn Snack Mix recipe (appetizers). Also, do not double the syrup for this recipe here, it is sufficient for the amount of cereal listed. I doubled the recipe for the syrup and it was way too much, baking time had to be doubled and a lot of the cereal was stuck to the pan because the excess syrup hardened.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2002
Terrible. I had a hard time working with the dough, kept falling apart. After baking, the crust was so moist, it stuck to fingers and crumbled completely. There also was a grainy texture. Basic Flaky Pie Crust is way better!!!

Basic Flaky Pie Crust

All those who did not like this recipe, you don't know what you're missing! This pie crust was perfect, I didn't have to add any more water. Used butter instead of shortening. It came out so pretty, like in a magazine picture!

Coconut Poke Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2002
Very easy to make. Also very tasty. If you need to whip a good desert up that isn't time/energy consuming, this is it. However, you can't keep this cake. It becomes VERY soggy due to the coconut syrup (I only used about 1/4 of the syrup).

These cookies were good. They melt in your mouth but have a fluffy, powder like cookie. Also very oily.
