About this Cook
I am a married working mother with grown kids. Now that the kids are grown I have a lot more time to cook but only myself and my husband to cook for! Hubby won't eat leftovers and i can't seem to cook in small quantities (old habits die hard). My dog has loved reaping the benefits of this which is why he is now on a diet!
My favorite things to cook
I love to try new recipes. Whether it's meals or baked goodies, I love to try anything new.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Christmas cookies. I love to give them as gifts. Not just cookies but bars and candy too. Anything yummy that will look great in a cookie tin. This past year, i spent 14 hours in the kitchen, baking non stop and loving every minute of it.
My cooking triumphs
I had my husbands family over for thanksgiving dinner a couple years ago. Everything turned out great. I was stressed out of my mind but in the end, I was quite proud of myself.
My cooking tragedies
I still have trouble with the first batch of cookies..They almost always burn. Recently, i made a banana cake that burned around the edges and was raw in the middle. My brownies sometimes come out this way as well.

Dark Chocolate Bacon Cupcakes
This is one of the best chocolate cake recipes i have ever had. Will be my go to recipe. The bacon, although a fun idea was not for me. If i do it again i will put the bacon in the food processor to add the flavor without the texture. Found the bacon texture to be just chewy and unpleasant.

Angel Hair Pasta with Garlic Shrimp and Broccoli
This is fantastic! I took suggestion to double the sauce, which is a must. I deboned a store bought rotisserie chicken in place of shrimp and used penne pasta in place of angel hair. Definately let the sauce rest a while to allow the ingredients to meld and the sauce to thicken.

Alfredo Sauce
I made this twice. The first time i made it as written and the flavor was fantastic however the consistency was slightly thin for our liking until it cooled slightly, which caused it to thicken. The second time, i thickened with flour and it was too thick. In the future, i will just allow it to sit for a few minutes before serving
