Maple Baked Pork Loin Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2011
Janet P. Girrrlll, this was, as described; a pork loin so moist and tender we really had to wait to cut it into slices to serve. No one asked for a knife to cut the meat; it was that tender. I followed the pan searing suggestion you gave and although I did not have garlic I subbed a dash of garlic powder and added a dash of Texas Pete (like Frank's Louisiana Hot Sauce). No other changes were made. My 3 GK's (15, 11 and 8) all asked for seconds and the 8 yo helped me clean up the kitchen and said, "Gma, let's share another piece of meat", which we proceeded to do with a little extra sauce poured over. The sauce is delightfully different, and only slightly sweet even though it contains the maple syrup, it simply is not overly sweet. Super easy, super delicious and I look forward to doing this again! Many thanks for a welcome addition to my weeknight or Sunday dinner menu!!

Zucchini Boats on the Grill

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2011
Very attractive and super delicious side dish. I used a well-drained can of RoTel tomatoes with green chilies (that's all I had on hand), probably doubled the Cheddar cheese especially when I covered the tops of the zucchini after it was stuffed with Cheddar. I did cook the zucchini in a microwave safe dish with a little water for 5 minutes, as suggested by another reviewer an finished cooking them in a moderate oven (350 degrees) for about 30 minutes. Cheese had melted throughout and the spiceyness of the RoTel tomatoes guaranteed this dish would be on my list of great side dishes. Fantastic way to enjoy a big summer harvest. DH took the 4th one to work with him. That's all I need to know!! Many thanks for a great recipe

Best Ever Sausage with Peppers, Onions, and Beer!

Reviewed: Jul. 12, 2011
Just anothr one of those special recipes that make me smile when I go to make it. Why? Because of it's simplicity, because of ease in prep and prep time, but mostly becaue of the request to not wait so long to make it again! Killer!

Refreshingly delightful! I made this subbing watermelon for the raspberries since the berries in my store weren't all that! Kids loved it and DH finished it. Win-win. I look forward to doing this again in the hot summer days ahead. Thank you!!

Green Bean Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2011
Our first green beans out of the garden and I tried this recipe for 6. Didn't use nearly as much PB, since that's such a strong flavor, only had one clove of garlic, which was just right for us, but followed remaining instructions to the letter. Those beans were eaten well ahead of my entree and I had 2 little faces ( 8 and 11 years old) asking if there was more! Totally delightful recipe and I can't wait to do it again at the request of everyone! When I can get the little guys to eat their veggies first, you can bet this will be a keeper. MANY thanks. We just harvested green beans for the first time (July 2012) and everyone asked me to "cook the beans with the peanut butter". I did and increased the recipe to 12 servings! Not one bean left over. I can't help but giggle when something is this easy AND this good, AND attracts the tastebuds of my entire family!

Beer Cheese Pretzel Dip

Reviewed: May 24, 2011
I made this for a family gathering at Christmas, New Year's and put a bowl out with fresh veggies to hold off the crowd til dinner could get done at Easter. There has never been any leftover. My 8 year old GS said we should just plan on having it "everytime" we get together even when he just comes to visit for a weekend!! Delicious, easy, simple ingredients. Can't ask for more. **UPDATE** Well, here it is late 8/2011 and he's here visiting. He specifically asked that we make this today. Heading to store for another brick of cream cheese. Doing only "half" of this recipe is a complete waste of time in my house!! When kids ask for it by name and dig in with glee with their celery sticks, how can you say no to that kind of celebration!!!

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: May 13, 2011
Not that you need another 5 star review but I have to tell you, I get so tired of the "usual" with chicken and find myself going back to this recipe more and more. Entire family loves it, GKs now ask for it. Have shared it with just about everyone I know. This eliminates any stress of what to do with thawed out chicken thighs. You are my hero!

I wanted something sweet, easy to make, quick and what I got was absolutely amazing! I took pix but mine look like all the fantastic pictures here so I posted one to FB. After dinner and this for dessert last night, I just stood back and accepted all the credit! This is delicious and I just wanted to say "thank you"!

Jalapeno Popper Pizza

Reviewed: May 1, 2011
My pre-baked pizza crusts were the small 8" thin crust variety, comes in a package of 4. Mixed cream cheese, ranch dressing and diced pickled jalapeno since I didn't have fresh. Instead of the bacon bits, I used pepperoni and didn't do the buttered bread crumbs at all. I made up 2 of the pizza crusts and have more than enough of the mixture for the other 2 at another time. We loved it! Jalapeno poppers are my DH's favorite snack food, next to pizza and now you've gone and combined the two! Accept my sincere thanks!!!!

Lemon Sponge Pie I

Reviewed: Apr. 18, 2011
Ever find a recipe that just made you giggle it turned out so well? This one did it for me. Looking for some sort of dessert and found that I had all the ingredients on hand to make this one. I added a photo of it straight out of the oven and another when DH cut into it before it had completely cooled. It was barely warm. The consistency is that of a sponge/custard pie. Very pleasing on the palate and the lemon flavor was just right. All I did was follow instructions...and smile... a lot!!

Sour Cream Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
One of my neighbors gave me several pints of blueberries from New Jersey last spring that their church was selling for a fundraiser. I had just enough left in the freezer to make these but didn't have enough sour cream. Improvised with buttermilk and must say this was one of the best blueberry muffins I've ever had. Super easy, just the right amount of sweetness and a recipe I look forward to doing again!

Mississippi Mud Cake IV

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2011
Perfectly wonderful with rave reviews! I used self-rising flour which eliminated the need for baking powder and salt. I toasted the walnuts. This is not a "cake-like" consistency but Mississipi Mud cake isn't supposed to have a cake-like consistency. It's like a very rich brownie covered with melted marshmallows and topped with a wonderful chocolate frosting. We loved it and my daughter said I could do this for her birthday from now on. The richness cries out for a tall glass of cold milk; pure Heaven. Thank you for sharing!!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Apr. 3, 2011
This has easily become a Family Favorite! I use dry onion soup packet instead of French onion soup and usually a chuck roast. It's a never-fail pleaser. The aroma while cooking is killer good!! I made this again last night and had only 1/2 bottle of VERY FLAT beer since I add beer to dishes I cook that call for beer, by only a few ounces at a time (we're emptynesters). Worked great. The flavor was definitely there. I also add a splash of good soy sauce for a fantastic flavor addition. Our favorite hot sandwich!

Best Bread Machine Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2011
I stopped looking at the photos when I got to 5thsister's BLT on toast and made a run for my bread machine. No disappointment here. Invited neighbor to share lunch with this homemade bread and homemade veggie/beef soup. Pure Heaven. She took the few slices of leftover bread and bread recipe home with her! Will definitely and happily do this again! Thank you!!

Paksiw na Pata (Pig's Feet Stew)

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2011
I'm giving this a 5 star review just from the reaction my Filipino hubby had when he came home last night and found that I had prepared this dish for him. I am a Gma from the south and although this has been prepared numerous times with southern families, mine was not one of them! DH had mentioned several times how much he would love to have pigs feet and told me I could cook them using the basic ingredients I use for a favorite chicken/pork adobo recipe that we both love. When I found fresh pigs feet in our market, I knew the time had come. Your recipe filled the need for the instructions. I got a great review from him and I only want to pass it on to you. Thank you for making my DH a happy camper!! He said it reminded him of home. You just can't top that!!

Scottish Bubbles and Squeak Patties

Reviewed: Mar. 7, 2011
Had this in files since October with good intentions but didn't make it until over the past weekend. I have no clue why I waited so long. Simple ingredients, even easier to put together and a delicious dish everybody loved. Gk's fell in love with the name and asked when I'd make it again. Soon, very soon!! Thank you, Sanzoe. Buffalo Chicken Dip

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2011
This was the hit of the evening. Sent the recipe home with everybody who showed up. Totally out of this world with carrot and celery sticks, kids were using Frito Scoops because, according to them, the scoops held more and didn't break (!), caught DH using tortilla chips and we all loved it on the variety of crackers that were offered. This recipe makes me happy to have it in my files! Thank you!!!

Easy Cream Cheese Danish

Reviewed: Feb. 6, 2011
I made this yesterday for our Super Bowl Party today. Got up this AM and one corner of the dish had been emptied with a little note beside it that simply said, "Looked too good to wait, thanks Babe!" I didn't change a thing only because I didn't have time to fuss and it came together fast (I'm in love with fast) and super easy (my hero). DH says for me not to wait until next Super Bowl to do these again. Looks like a keeper...recipe and DH! Thanks sooo much, Natalie!!
