Three Bean Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2009
This is a really, really good recipe and fantastic for a take-along to share at a summer cookout. I make it at least 2 days in advance so the beans can marinate and it is truly delicious. Thank you for another great addition to my recipe file!

Chocolate Cream Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2008
Bless those grandmothers! This pie has all the wonderful flavor "cocoa" can provide. I topped mine with a mile high meringue and I never had to deal with what to do with any leftover pie. There wasn't any! Thank you for sharing a real keeper!!

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
An elderly lady I care for, with a bird-like appetite, asked if I would cook some lambchops for her. Knowing that she rarely asks for anything specific, I was happy to do this but not being a big fan of lamb, I knew you wouldn't let me down when I found this recipe. OMG! What a huge success this was. I loved the simple ease in prep, I loved the aroma, I loved that there was NO garlic, I'm in love with lamb chops and I love you for sharing!!! Can't thank you enough. My patient thinks I'm a gourmet cook. I'll have to let her know my secret. Once again you and your followers have provided an excellent recipe. Frankly, I can't do without the convenience of Allrecipes and this is just another of the MANY that have graced my table! Again, many thanks!!

Sweet Potato Pie

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2008
The basic pie is what I've made all my adult cooking years. My kids call it Mom's Carolina Sweet Potato Pie and ask for it at any occasion throughout the year. I've never put spices into my sweet potato pie because that makes it more like a pumpkin pie and no one in my family will eat pumpkin! The glaze made an already good pie, outstanding. Excellent pie and well worth doing the topping. This is down home good!! Thanks TOH, you did it again!

Chicken and Sausage with Bowties

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2008
I have a recipe for bowtie pasta and Italian sausage and thought this would be a nice change of pace. I used mild sausage only because I had it on hand and 2 thawed out chicken breasts and no idea what I wanted to do with them. I made this recipe using canned diced Italian tomatoes and followed the rest as it's listed. We had it with a tossed salad and hubby happily took the leftovers to work with him this AM for his lunch. Delicious and a definite keeper I'll do often. Thank you for sharing!!

Super-Delicious Zuppa Toscana

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2008
I'm always looking for recipes to share with my daughter, mom to 5. She is highly allergic to celery and carrots so finding hearty soups without those ingredients is difficult. This one is not only easy, but delicious and is now in our shared recipe files! Many thanks!

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2008
Being from the south, pound cakes were and still are a staple among recipes passed down to family cooks. This one fits that description very nicely, indeed. The cake has a tender texture and is moist even without the butter and sugar mixture. I've done it both ways and no one in my family will turn it down, either way! It's the perfect answer when a friend comes over for a cup of coffee and an afternoon chat! Just make sure you have copies of the cake recipe. They will, no doubt, ask for it! Many thanks for an excellent recipe.

Chinese Cold Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2008
We love this recipe. Made a complete meal out of it by adding chunks of leftover chicken. Not too crazy about cilantro so subbed a wee bit of fresh parsley. Worked great. This is a keeper and a great "go-to" pasta recipe when you want it light but very tasty! Thank you for sharing.

Best Ziti Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2008
I have to respect the comments from other reviewers when they say this makes a "LOT"! They were not kidding. I put mine in 2 containers; one 8 x 8 for Hubby and me and still had more than enough for a 9 x 11 to give to my daughter who has 5 kids. They loved it and so did we. A salad, crusty bread and this recipe create a lovely meal! Many thanks for sharing!!! Had more than enough leftover for Honey to take to work. Apparently, he shared it with coworker who had forgotten their lunch. Coworker wants recipe!! Yikes!

Southern Fried Cabbage

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
DEEEELISH! I like to add a little soy sauce and eat it with plain ole rice for an excellent lunch. This is a great recipe and one my grand kids happily go back to for seconds! I've used it as a veggie side dish for dinner and there's never any leftover. Many thanks for another great addition to my recipe box.

Fabulous Foolproof Lasagna

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2008
A rare event was having all the ingredients on hand including the ricotta which hubby mistakenly purchased instead of the "cottage cheese" which was on his grocery list. Lucky us! Then, something to feed 3 starving kids after an afternoon of swimming lessons and pool cavorting, this was an answer to a prayer. Enough leftover for a nice serving for Hubby's lunch the next day. Fast, easy, and delicious. Can't ask for more. Many thanks!!

Jayme's Coleslaw

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2008
Some recipes have so many things added to give you bells and whistles it's difficult to remember what you're eating. This recipe is simple, few ingredients and anything but boring. Truly a great coleslaw and one that goes well with everything from Carolina pulled pork to burgers and dogs off the grill. This is a keeper! Thanks for a great recipe.

Missy's Candied Walnut Gorgonzola Salad

Reviewed: May 21, 2008
This spring has been very kind to our lettuces and strawberries. Now that we're in the midst of our berry season, I couldn't resist adding strawberries and used an assortment of the lettuces in our garden. Oh my, life is good! Thank you for expanding our salad horizons! Great recipe.

Praline Sundae Topping

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
Our favorite restaurant serves a fabulous bread pudding with a caramel/praline-type sauce. My own bread pudding is my hubby's favorite but he was not too happy with my sauce. This sundae topping duplicates the taste of the one in the restaurant. OH MY MY MY...this is off the charts! Many, many thanks for a fantastic recipe which is in my permanent recipe file!

Jalapeno Pepper Jelly

Reviewed: May 2, 2008
I used 2 fresh jalepeno peppers (in lieu of the canned pappers) seeded and deveined along with the bell peppers. Instead of mincing, I cut them in large chunks so they could easily be scooped out after the allotted time for cooking and just prior to adding either green or red food coloring. The jelly is then beautifully clear which I prefer when giving as gifts and I don't have to worry with turning it to evenly distribute the pepper flecks and it does not alter the taste at all. It is absolutely delicious as a condiment for pork, chicken, or with the ever lovely cream cheese and crackers! It's a staple at my house for Super Bowl Sunday and even the little kids enjoy it! Not too hot or too sweet. We love it. Many thanks for a great recipe.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
I baked this cake in anticipation of my brother's visit with us not seeing each other for nearly 3 years. We love sitting over a slice of pound cake and a steaming cup of coffee as we catch up on each others' news. After he left, he called and said "By the way, Sis, that was some of the best pound cake since Gramma's. Sure would like that recipe"! Rich, full-bodied, great texture. Didn't have lemon flavoring so used one tsp. coconut flavoring and it was gone in 1 1/2 days. Nuff said! Many, many thanks.

Quick Chinese-Style Vermicelli (Rice Noodles)

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2008
Soooo simple and delicious. I sometimes add a drop or two of Chinese "hot" oil just to give it a little kick. My 3 grand babies who love anything Chinese, often ask me to "Do the noodles, Mama"! Makes lunchtime a no-brainer. Many thanks!

I added some tiny broccoli florets and had extra Parmesan on the table. It did have a very nice Alfredo flavor. Grand kids loved it. There were no leftovers!
