Apple Pie by Grandma Ople
My Mother in law has always made a great apple pie, so I've always known better than to attempt one, but since we are now about 600 miles away from her my husband was really craving one, and I tried this one. He loved it. When we were visiting his mother last week she mentioned making an apple pie, and he asked me to make it instead, because he liked the one I made better. I almost felt bad, but when I did make it, my mother in law, always ready with compliments told me that it was the best apple pie she had ever tasted, and asked me for the recipe. On my husbands birthday he again asked for this apple pie instead of a cake. I guess I could say that I have found a keeper recipe!!
P.S. I followed the recipe exactly except that I make my own crust, sprinkle it with cinamon and sugar, and let the shell brown in the oven before filling it.
