About this Cook
I am still learning how to cook, but with my husband's help, I've been trying new foods and broadening my horizon. Sadly though my 6 year old doesn't like that idea. :)
My favorite things to cook
Pretty much anything I can get a hold of! :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Growing up, my stepdad was the chef in the family- and that mostly consisted of grilled chicken and potatoes, but I had no complaints- it was good! We did however have one fun tradition- once or twice a year we would splurge and have ice cream sundaes or banana splits for dinner. We went all out and would go rent a few movies and stay up all night. Now, my new tradition is to attempt something new at least 3-4 nights/week. :)
My cooking triumphs
Learning to make apple pie from scratch! I am also very proud that I finally tried enchiladas- how did I go for 23 years without trying them? Yummmmm....
My cooking tragedies
My second attempt at a 2hr turkey. I somehow wasn't able to contain the small amount of fats and it was splattering all over the oven and smoking really badly- I had to stop it because I was scared of setting the apartment on fire!

Spinach Enchiladas Verde
This is how I make my enchiladas- so yummy! The only difference between this one and mine is that we use cheddar/jack mix and I actually buy the green enchilada sauce :) YUMMY!

Urban Legend Chocolate Chip Cookies
These are THE BEST cookies to make! It's a great way to get some whole grains in there. I've made them by the recipe and have also done some different things with them- dark chocolate and coconut, cranberries with white chocolate, just add whatever you have on hand!

Adrienne's Tom Ka Gai
I didn't have bok choy or fish sauce, but I used spinach and it was great. I ended up also adding a lot of lime and some lime zest to it at the end to get it to the flavor I remember from my hometown's thai restaurant. I followed the suggestion of other reviewers to use chicken broth. It was nummy!! We served it with rice noodles to try something a little different.
