About this Cook
I learned to cook when I moved into my first apartment in college. At first I was a disaster, but I quickly found my footing with quick and easy healthy cooking. I train hard to stay in shape, and work full-time, so quick-and-easy is a must. My favorite thing about cooking is that I never have to guess about what's been put in my food. I love baking, too, and give most of my goodies away to keep myself honest (but not before sneaking a taste)!
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family makes vanilla caramels for Christmas. When they're cooking they produce an intoxicating smell that always brings me back to childhood.

Soft Sugar Cookies V
I hate to be negative, especially when everyone else raved about these cookies, but I was very disappointed. I made them for my fiance, who loves sugar cookies, but they had very little flavor and a very cakey consistency. However, they are true to their name and remained soft.

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie
These cookies had a great texture. They were crisp on the outside and chewy on the inside. However, I did find them a little greasy. Next time I may replace half of the butter with shortening. Also, I refrigerated the cookies (on the cookie sheet) right before they went in the oven. I noticed this made their shape come out better. The first batch was a little flat. Good cookie overall and I would make them again.

French Butter Cakes (Madeleines)
These were superb, and I have to disagree with the reviewer who said a good Madeleine should be dense and buttery (like the ones from Starbucks). Have you ever had a REAL French Madeleine? They're lighter than air. Starbucks serves very nice molded pound cakes, NOT Madeleines.
