Jeanie's Falafel

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2013
Great taste, but mine fell apart. I baked them instead of frying, next time I will try frying them and see if it works out any better.

Dirt Cups

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2012
Although the filling was not really to my taste (not really into cream fillings) and I had to really search high and low to find anything close to the ingredients here in Germany, everyone else thought it was fantastic. The kids in my class loved it and so did my fiancé. I would make it again for them.

Oatmeal Raisin Cookies IV

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2012
These are much better the next day, soft chewy and tasty; however, I gave them 3 stars because they need more oatmeal and spice.

Chocolate Ganache

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2011
I used this to top the French Chocolate Cake recipe I made and it was a big hit. It was very easy to make and it turned out well, although I melted the chocolate before adding it to the melted butter, which may have helped prevent any clumps forming. I can't wait to try making it into frosting.

French Chocolate Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
I have made this cake three times now and even though the second and third ones never looked as good as the first, they were all delicious. My third cake looked like a sunken soufflé, and even the Chocolate Ganache recipe I poured over it couldn't hide its' sadness, but it was a big hit with everyone who ate it. The perfect chocolate fix!

Red Velvet Cupcakes

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2011
I thought these were a little dry. Also, against my better judgment, I used the cream cheese frosting recipe given with these cupcakes and my frosting was extremely runny. This recipe needs some tweaking.

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2011
Even though I don't like sweet potatoes and I was manipulated into making these, this recipe was a big hit with everyone at Christmas. I will make this again next Christmas.

Garlic Bread Fantastique

Easy and good, what more could you ask for. I did not measure anything but got the basic idea from here and went with it. I will make it again.

Baked Ziti II

Reviewed: Oct. 23, 2010
This was O.K., but there was definitely something missing. Maybe the sausage? My fiance made this upon my request and we will try it again with sausage and a little more herbs and maybe some sambal olek. If you like bland food or have a picky eater at your house it is probably worth the effort.

Whoopie Pies I

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2010
Not worth the effort. They tasted better with ice cream in the middle (but still not great). I will not make these again. Maybe you had to have grown up with these to appreciate them?!?

Monkey Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
Even though I am not a huge fan of Monkey Bread, it was really good! The kids in my class loved it as well as all the other teachers who could steal a bite. Even my fiancé enjoyed it when I did my test bake at home. I will make this again.

Fluffy French Toast

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2010
I did not get as many pieces of French toast as the recipe said it yielded (even adding extra milk), but the toast did turn out well. This was not as good as in restaurant, that is why I gave it 3 stars.

Baked Maryland Lump Crab Cakes

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2010
Great taste even with frozen shredded crab meat (In the middle of Germany there is no chance of fresh crab meat, it is frozen or canned. I had to go to an Asian store to find any crab meat at all... even the fish market did not have it!). I will make these again. Thank you to everyone for all your helpful comments that made my crab cakes so successful! I did make a lot of changes, hence the 4 stars instead of 5. I added spring onions like it recommends in the My Crab Cake recipe, used fresh parsley and mustard instead of dry, used Ritz crackers in the mix instead of bread crumbs, coated the crab cakes with bread crumbs after forming into patties, refrigerated patties for 1 hour before cooking, fried them in a pan with olive oil until brown on each side then put the entire pan in the oven at 350°F (170°C) for 10 minutes afterwards (my crab cakes were very moist due to the frozen crab retaining so much water and the normal mustard I used, so 10 minutes may be too long for your mixture).

Mom's Island Treasures

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
A little too dry! I might try making these again, but with some changes to the recipe posted. Maybe less nuts and coconut and more egg (2 small instead of 1 large). Although I gave it four stars since my fiancé still thought they were pretty good.

Lemon Poppy Seed Loaf

Reviewed: May 30, 2010
This was quite lemony and tasty, but I think it would have been too dry if I had not taken another reviewers advice and added a lemon glaze to it.

Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies I

Reviewed: May 23, 2010
I have used this recipe multiple times with various chocolate and nut mixtures and they always turn out fabulous. Very good basic cookie recipe. The dough freezes well which is great to have on stand by. I did change the the sugar to 3/4 a cup white sugar and 3/4 cup mixed light and dark brown sugar and they came out even better!
