Best Toffee Ever - Super Easy

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
WOW- this recipe is so easy and simple and GREAT! You do not even need a candy thermometer- just stir frequently (but not non-stop- give it a little rest in between) and it will be done when the sugar-butter mixture gets foamy, light brown and kind of pulls away from the pan. You will just kind of know. Just make sure you don't burn it. Turned out perfect both times I have made it.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2010
Okay- this is one of those recipes where I scratch my head. Great reviews- and I was SO unimpressed. Did everything as directed- they are pretty bland and spread out on me- not keeping the shape. Maybe I did something wrong- but I don't think so.... Will not be making again :(

Black Cat Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2010
These turned out SUPER cute! My kids loved them. They were really pretty easy to make and made a lot more than I thought- about 40 good sized cookies. The batter is pretty dry- requires a lot of work-only complaint!

Savory Chicken Sandwiches

Hmm- not sure if I overcooked this or what- but I did not care for this at all. Bland and the appearance wasn't too appealing either.

Not sure where these great reviews came from. You can tell that they are low-fat for sure. Won't be making these again.

Pumpkin Muffins II

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Wonderful recipe! I made the "healthier" version subbing oil for applesauce and 1 cup wholw wheat flour, 1 cup white flour, 1 cup oats, cut sugar to 1 1/2 cups. I also used canned pumpkin and about 1 cup of raisins. Delicious and the kids loved them too! Makes about 24 nice sized muffins- perfect for breakfast or snack. My kids LOVE this recipe- and I make them ALL THE TIME.

Banana Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2009
These are so-so. I used 2 whole eggs and regular flour as a substitute. You can't really taste the banana flavor too much--just tastes kind of bland. Won't be making this one again.

Stuffed French Toast II

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2009
Pretty good! I will say that I used real diced strawberries with light cream cheese as the filling and it was delicious! Sprinkled with powdered sugar. Kids loved it!

Swiss Chicken Casserole II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
This was a crowd pleaser. Here's my changes- used provolone instead of swiss (personal preference. Put the stuffing on top of the chicken/cheese then put mixture of cream of celery soup. 1/2 cup chicken broth, and 1/4 cup sour cream. Omitted the butter. I really liked putting the stuffing first- THEN pouring the soup mixture over that, it really made the stuffing much better (not so dry and crunchy as opposed to putting it on top). Pleased my picky 5 year old, so will be making again!

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2009
These are pretty good- definately one to make again. I used white vinegar- instead of the apple cider vinegar and tasted fine. I also added more chocolate chips (that never hurt a thing!)Also, mine only made 18 instead of the 24.

Bake Sale Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 31, 2008
These turned out very well. I did use the recommendations and doubled the eggs and flour for the filling. Increased the white sugar to 2 cups (I like them sweet) and used 3/4 cup or so of lemon juice. No need to double the crust- there was plenty. Once the filling was in, I did need it to bake at least 25 min to get a little golden on the outside. Turned out great! Will make again- except I might try using some lemon zest next time in addition to the lemon juice.

Caramel Apple Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2008
This was GREAT! The only downside would be that it is VERY rich-- I like sweets. Definately a crowd pleaser- will make again. Used a little less sugar as recommended and a little more lemon juice, and did bake it a good 15 minutes longer to get the crust golden. I did not find it to be runny at all- just good!

Best Brownies

This recipe was pretty good- although the frosting recipe was way too thick and gloppy. I think I'll try it again but use a diffent frosting recipe and maybe mix in choc chips or chunks or something.

Strawberry Muffins

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2008
I have to agree with the comment about the applesauce- I too substituted the oil with applesauce and they turned out kind of "rubbery". Also the strawberry taste is really subtle- I don't think most people would know that it was a strawberry muffin.

Sunday Best Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2008
I have to say after reading the reviews I thought this would be really good- but maybe my expectations were too high because I found it to be "okay". I actually would of just preferred the fresh fruit alone without the peach pie filling.
