Slow Cooker Cranberry Pork

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
My family raved about this recipe. I didn't have any cranberry sauce, so I used Marion Berry jam, no onion, and a Russian type dressing. I also read reviews and added a tablespoon of starch so sauce was not thin and watery. Left overs were used in pulled pork sandwiches that was enjoyed by all. I will make this again.

Garlic Prime Rib

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
After looking at several posts and different recipes on this site, decided this one was the easiest to follow. I do not have double ovens, so this recipe also allowed me to cook other items at the same time. I did set meat out for about 2 hours to warm; this did allow for through cooking. I used a 4.5 pound prime rib. I followed directions almost to a "t". I had no garlic so used an organic seasoning pack (onion and garlic). Turned out great - the topping did blacken, but did not deter from flavor. Also, when I removed the roast from the oven, I wrapped up with foil while it "sat" for about 20 minutes (and finished cooking my twice baked potatoes. I was so nervous about the 20 minutes of high temperature; but am glad I tried this out, and will use again.

Soy Sauce Substitute

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2009
I am allergic to Soy; and this worked great in other recipes that needed soy sauce. My family didn't even realize it was a replacement! Thanks.

Slow Cooker Cider Pork Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2009
Wanted to try something different with shoulder roast. After reading reviews, I decided to use 2 packets of apple cider mix rather than one and reduced overall water. I also added ground cloves (about a teaspoon or so). The results were good, which was surprising! House smelled great during the day and the meat was tender with an apple taste. My husband really liked it; but my 16 year old didn't care to much for it.

Home-Made Cream of Chicken Soup

Family has a lot of allergies; this was a great recipe to make the dish I wanted while ensuring no outbreaks. Easy and no one could tell the difference.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
Followed recipes and some of the other suggestions. Turned out better than I thought, cooked in crock pot all day; very easy. Left overs were AWESOME in pulled pork sandwhiches and tacos.

Baked Yam and Potato Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2009
This was okay. My family really likes Yams; but still met with so so results. I put in a smaller container and messed up my layers of Yam to potato - which may be the reason for the so so results. Next time will try to make sure the potato (white) has the cheese and may be better. This would be a good recipe for those who don't really like the flavor of Yams, but want the additional nutrition in a potato dish.

This was very easy and good. Great for the game. Read a few reviews and added some additional salsa rather than just chilis.

The Best Chicken Fried Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
Great recipe! I had no buttermilk, and tough to find substitute. Finally found suggestion for half milk - half plain yogurt; let sit for 10 minutes. Turned out well, husband said he likes this version better than others tried in past. Will be making this again. Thanks.

Authentic Louisiana Red Beans and Rice

Reviewed: May 14, 2011
Awesome. Have cooked twice and family loves. First time did not have enough kick; so added extra hot pepper. We don't like kidney beans and used a combination of black, navy, and pinto. I also boil for 2 minutes, sit for one hour. Rinse and clean, soak overnight (or while at work). Beans have a lot less gas this way. I also have mixed up meats depending on what I have on hand.

Zucchini Herb Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
Good use of zucchini - glad I read reviews first. I tripled spices and rice, added a few more pinches of crushed red pepper (we like things spicy in this house), added more sharp cheddar for baking and pepper jack cheese for the table. I plan to prepare this dish again.

Easy White Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2011
Great recipe. I have made this several times and family loves it. I first made this to cover taste of wild turkey, and have made various different meats, changing the flavor some, but good still the same. I also soak my beans overnight, cook them down and then add broth. The broth is too expensive to waste on cooking beans.

Cheese Dip I

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
Family loves it. I add half tub sour cream to make it more spreadable. Take half out for those who like the dip thicker. Use rest of sour cream to mix with the remaining half for those who like to use it with chips, easy to break items, and thinner dip. I have been making this for several years and thought I had rated it in the past. So sorry for delayed review.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
This is the best lemonade ever! I add raspberry mix (no alcohol) to make a raspberry lemonade. I make it for every special occasion and take a jug when I am visiting my older friends. They say it reminds them of the lemonade their mom used to make.

Fresh Tasting Black Beans With Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 24, 2012
I use minced garlic, 1 T, rather than powder, and 2 T meundu mix in the water to cook with the rice, and do not use dried cilantro. Use significantly less lemon juice (1.5 T) and less beans for more of a rice mixed/beans. Use fresh cilantro once complete. With edits, becomes side dish one night, left overs go into tacos the following.

Slow Cooker Mashed Potatoes

Made these for Christmas dinner last year and was asked to bring them back! WOW! They were a hit and eveyone loved them. The hint about the towel to limit soggy was great. Followed a few others too. Will be making again this year! Thanks
