Chocolate Chess Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2014
11/17/14. This quick, rich and easy pie got rave reviews from hubby and some church friends. Although I've made many chess pies over the years, this is the first chocolate one, but it won't be the last. Extremely rich

Nonalco Punch

Reviewed: Oct. 20, 2014
This is such a great recipe. The almond extract really makes it outstanding. I did not use the sugar but used Sweet Leaf Sweetener drops, about 1 1/2 tsps.; adjust to your taste. I make an ice ring in my Bundt pan by putting in a bit of water, then adding thinly sliced orange slices and maraschino cherries. Once the mixture is frozen add a bit more water to cover the fruit. This time I even poured the cherry juice in to the ice ring; easy and pretty as well. One fellow asked if I would make the punch every time for our church group, but instead I shared the recipe. Thanks for such an easy, foolproof recipe.

Brown Sugar Brownies

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2014
Hubby gives 5 stars for taste; I give 5 for ease of prep. I followed other reviewers using less salt and doubled the recipe using unsalted butter, mixing the chopped walnuts in with the flour mixture before adding, then sprinkling chocolate chips over batter before baking. Used the Pampered Chef bar pan rather than a 9 x 13 pan and they turned out just great. Mine baked approx. 30 min. but ovens vary so much. Oh yeah, it's a keeper.

Never Fail Applesauce Spice Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2014
This was easy and delicious, but I did add a bit more of each spice - love the clove/cinnamon. The cake was very moist, flavorful and kept well. Will definitely make again. Thanks for this great recipe.

Cream of Cauliflower Soup II

Reviewed: Jul. 28, 2012
Very good. Used pkg. of frozen cauliflower as I did not have fresh available. Instead of milk, added a bit of half and half and topped with a bit of cheese before serving. Thanks for a good recipe and will definitely make again. To make it very decadent (fatteninging) - might add bacon bits next time.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 21, 2012
Excellent!! Doubled the batter, but used only regular recipe of topping and it was just right. I didn't fill muffin cups to the top, but they still filled the cup as they baked. If they had been filled to the top they may have spilled over when baking. Thanks for a great recipe! Family loves these so will be making again.

Rosemary Ranch Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: May 30, 2012
Excellent - tender and moist. Followed recipe exactly but cooked boneless chicken breasts rather than kabobs. Next time will try kabobos with veggies, etc. Thanks for a great recipe. This is a keeper. Note: I buy the dry Hidden Valley in bulk at Sams and make the ranch dressing by the quart - cheaper and always have enough on hand.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 15, 2012
This is amazing. I always think the vinegar (no matter what kind) is a bit too much so I decreased slightly and added a bit more sesame oil. We had a bit of leftover chicken from the night before and that worked well. We love the oriental flavors and as other reviewers have stated, many other veggies could be added, but we think it is wonderful the say it is, especially with the green onion and cilantro. I halved the recipe and did use 1/4 c. oil and it was not too much dressing. Next time though I will substitute olive oil for health reasons. Thanks for a great recipe. It is a keeper!!!

Cabbage on the Grill

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
Oh so good and easy. Husband loved it and I liked the ease of preparation and no odor in the house. I did use small sections of cabbage and sprayed with olive oil rather than butter; put two pieces of cabbage in each piece of foil after seasoning and wrapping in bacon. I was really surprised how good it was. Will definitely make this again. Not only did we not have the odor inside the house but by cooking on the grill there was no need to constantly watch and turn as when sauteeing on the stove.

Unbelievable Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2012
Had only chicken tenderloins and no lime, so used juice from whole lemon; otherwise followed recipe as written. Only marinated about 4 hours, but chicken was very moist and delicious. Will definitely make again. Thanks for the post.

Coconut Cream Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2012
Excellent - so very glad to find this recipe. The one I've used for years had only 3 eggs and 2 cups milk, and this makes just enough more filling for the 10" pie plate. The only difference was that I used cornstarch before, but the end result was still very good. used egg whites, a bit of cream of tartar and about 1/2 c. sugar for meringue then sprinkled with a little more coconut and baked at 325 'til meringue was lightly browned. Thanks for the recipe post.

Leslie's Salty Grilled Potatoes

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2012
Excellent. Put potatoes in microwave 5 minutes as others have suggested, used olive oil instead of butter. After wrapping placed potatoes on gas grill on indirect heat (with two other burners lit). This avoided burned skin. will definitely make again. Thanks.

Ham 'n' Cheese Egg Bake

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2012
Quick and easy and tasty, but might add a little crushed red pepper next time for an extra kick. Liked another post of keeping cooked bacon ready. Will definitely make again and thanks for a recipe that can be done at last minute for unexpected company.

Ham N Egg Skillet

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2012
Added a little more butter and onion and used only 3 eggs. As noted by others, it is important to let the potatoes cook undisturbed until brown and crispy. Family enjoyed very much even though I forgot the cheese. Think I would just sprinkle the cheese on anyway rather than mixing w/other ingredients. Thanks for an easy , tasty dish.

Pork Chops with Pear Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
We thought this was delicious. I did not have pear juice so substituted orange juice and it worked out fine, but the pear juice probably would have made it even better. NOTE: I wonder if there is a misprint in the recipe. We love cinnamon and I used only 1 Tblsp. and it was more than enough. Suggest taste test before adding 2 Tblsp. Will definitely make when we have extra pears.

Scalloped Potatoes and Onions

Reviewed: Sep. 25, 2011
Excellent and as other reviewers have mentioned, it is so nice to find a recipe without the creamed soup, which I've used for many years. I layered the potatoes and chopped onion and sprinkled each layer with a little salt and pepper. This is now my new go-to recipes for scalloped potatoes. My dear friend cannot have dairy but loves potatoes and I shared this recipe with her. Thanks so much for a great, delicious make-ahead recipe.

Swiss Vegetable Medley

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Very good. I used frozen veggies and steamed first, made the sauce and refrigerated until just before time to go to a potluck. As others, used shredded colby-Jack cheese. Before adding the sauce sprinkled steamed, drained veggies with Mrs. Dash seasoning for extra flavor. Did not have the onion rings and just sprinkled extra cheese on top. No doubt the onion rings would add even more flavor and texture. Will try that next time. Thanks for an easy, quick and different vegetable dish.

Cranberry Icebox Cookies

Excellent and attractive cookie that keeps well. I also used dried cranberries. It's so nice to have a "make ahead" batch when baking several different kinds for the holidays. Thanks for posting.
