Living Life on the Homestead
Happy Mama!
About this Cook
I have reached the half century mark and feel awesome. I am graduating with my second degree in Business (Sales/Marketing Management.) Currently looking for a full-time position that will utilize my skills.
My favorite things to cook
I like to bake and cook just about anything. My current speciality is imitation Heath bars (yum!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, and of course... I make "The Mistake." I cannot reveal what it is ;)
My cooking triumphs
HOMEMADE BREAD!!! It was so good. I called my mom long distance and had to tell her it raised so good and baked up just perfectly. Also, my personal recipe; Banana Cake With Cream Cheese Frosting. Look for it on here... lol
My cooking tragedies
So-so long ago, I used to make gravy using a rue, but unfortunately I used to use too much celery and it would be GREEN! Green with envy? I think not, however; it was mighty tasty but quite hard to look at. I've since changed my ingredients and my gravy is perfect now.

Bread Pudding III
I never use just plain white bread. This recipe was created to use up old bread around the house. I used old buns, bread and donuts instead of just white bread. This is the perfect recipe to get rid of those dried out old buns that never freeze well in the first olace. Also, add a bit more milk. Happy baking!

Cinnamon Coffee Frosting
DE-LI-CIOUS! I made a spice cake and found I didn't have any ready made frosting. I made it according to the directions except I used 1 Tsp. hot tap water in with the instant coffe, cinnamon and vanilla extract. Then I added the rest. Talk about YUMMY. Finger licking good. I am keeping this cake in the fridge to keep that frosting cool and delicious. Will make again for certain.

Baked Asparagus with Balsamic Butter Sauce
Can YOU say YUMMY? OH wow. I had doubled the recipe and browned the butter! With the balsamic and soy and I also added about a Tbsp of lemon juice. I'm tellin' you, I wanted to just drink the juice! My 17 year old daughter preferred it just out of the oven, but me? I LOVED the sauce. Thank goodness for spring and our lovely asparagus.
