J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits
I give this recipe 5 stars based only on taste for now, due to my lack of biscuit making experience (I'm sure) the texture wasn't what I hoped to achieve. I tried my best not to over-handle the dough, but perhaps I did, because they turned out pretty flat and dense, not light and fluffy like most of the others here. They still taste wonderful and will not go to waste, but I look forward to trying this recipe again and hopefully perfecting it!
Update: I have tried this recipe again, this time with wonderful results, I did 3 things differently than I did the 1st time. 1) I used a large fork instead of my hands to work the butter in (I used butter both times), 2) I allowed the biscuits to rest in the fridge for 3 hours before baking, and 3) I set the oven a bit hotter, to 450, because they didn't seem quite done in the centers the first time.
My biscuits came out tall, light and fluffy this time, just as I was hoping, I'm so happy!
