Herb Rubbed Sirloin Tip Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2010
This was really great! My paprika is Hungarian half-sharp which adds just the slightest heat. Yum. I also used this on a chuck roast (rubbed, seared in a fry pan and popped into the crock pot) and it was WONDERFUL!

Baked Stuffed Pumpkin

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
I would not make this again as is. My pumpkins never cooked even though I left them in for 2 hours. (I used two medium pie pumpkins and there was fruit left over.) The fruit "stuffing" was WONDERFUL though. I will definitely make that again and use it somehow. We did scoop it out and put it warm on vanilla ice cream. Yum. Some other alternatives are a pie, crisp or cobbler. Maybe a topping over spice cake or carrot cake. It would make a beautiful trifle dish recipe warm over ladyfingers, sponge cake or angel cake cubes. The pumpkin certainly makes serving cute.

German Chocolate Cake Frosting II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
My husband said this was a great frosting. It was very simple to do - even though I don't like to separate eggs since I don't know what to do with what's left. Quiche time, I guess. I don't like nuts or coconut, but it was quite tasty even to me!

Round Steak and Gravy II

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2008
I was wondering how you can cook a piece of round steak. I used the crock pot suggestion and it worked out great. I have done this before with a chuck roast with the same great results. I did not use the french onion soup since I didn't have any, but will put it on my shopping list. I think that it will have a nicer, more subtle onion flavor than the dry soup mix I used. Because I used the dry soup mix, I did add 3/4 can water. I always dredge my meat in flour and brown it before putting it in the crock pot. Otherwise, I find it kind of boils the meat and it can be more rubbery than tender-juicy-fall-apart meat. I would suggest adding some garlic for those who like it, too!!

Homemade Pancake Mix

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
My family loved these. So easy. I did not add all the sugar figuring I could increase the sugar if we needed to next time. No one noticed or said it needed more, so I'll keep it light. You could add powdered milk to the mixture so you just add water & egg instead of milk and egg. Not a big deal to me, but might be easier for those who don't keep much milk on hand. (We did not make the banana version.)

Airport Bob's Green Beans

Reviewed: Aug. 27, 2008
I cooked the sugar misture too long and it got hard as a rock. I put it aside and when I reheated it, it melted nicely. It got rave reviews at my house! (I don't usually cook things too long!)

Basic Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
I did not like this bread very much. Just so-so. It was way too much for my bread machine. It oozed over the sides of the pan and hit the top window of the machine. I also found it to be dry even after adding some water to the dough during the kneading cycle. I much prefer the recipe called plain and simple sourdough bread. Moist, doughy and yummy! (Not to mention the right size for a bread machine!)

Plain and Simple Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
Wow!! I'm going to use this for a long, long time. I tried a few different recipes, but this is the best. Bread comes out moist, almost doughy. A very lightly browned crust when I use the large - light setting on my bread machine. So easy - never thought I could do a yeast bread & especially one with a starter! But it is so easy & so delicious. Yum!!

Sourdough Starter II

Reviewed: Mar. 25, 2008
This is my first attempt with a sourdough starter - or any starter. It was easy to do and makes a great loaf - really, really tasty with the bread machine.
