Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Came together quickly and easily and held up well at room temperature. With the leftovers, I added more cream and whipped it all together, and it tasted just like cool whip.

Lemon Icebox Pie I

This was excellent! I used a homemade graham cracker crust. The filling was very sweet - one piece is definately the limit. I had never made meringue before and it went just perfectly. My only problem with the recipe was that it didn't fill the pie crust as well as I would have liked.

Blueberry Snack Cake

This cake was easy, and so moist and delicious without being over-sweet. A great use for blueberries. I added some cinnamon to the topping, which was very nice. I had to bake this for nearly 45 minutes before it was done.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Weirdly awesome. I used black beans instead of kidney beans, and it was so tasty I probably won't ever try kidney beans. One of these is very filling.

Iced Pumpkin Blondies

This is more like cake than bars (blondies are white chocolate brownies, which these are not). The original cake recipe is worth 5 stars. When I made it the second time, I added nutmeg and ginger, and half again the amount of pumpkin. I'd strongly recommend adding more cream cheese to the icing. I used two packages (16 oz total, NOT 6 oz as in the recipe), and added 1 tsp vanilla. Fiance ate them all up and demanded more!

South African Malvapoeding (Marshmallow Pudding)

The taste of this dessert was top-notch, but the actual baking process was strange. Is the milk supposed to curdle, both in the batter and in the topping? If not, how do you prevent this?

Peanut Noodles

A new favorite. This tastes just like my favorite sesame noodles dish from Chinese restaurants. My fiance and I finished the whole thing! I doubled the green onions (and included more than just the white parts). Next time, I'll add shrimp or chicken. This was good with a side of broccoli.

Perfect White Bread

This is essentially the recipe my mom always made when I was small, and the one I've gone back to after trying a half dozen others. Nothing else comes close! The slight tweaks I've made are as follows: I always proof the yeast first in the warm water by adding a generous pinch of sugar and letting it sit for 10 minutes. Seems to get a better result - maybe it wakes the yeast up? Secondly, instead of shortening I use melted and cooled butter. Finally, I mix in five cups of flour to the dough, then mix the final cup in during the kneading process (the dough will start out fairly sticky). Great recipe!

Hot Water Pie Crust I

Fantastic! I hate making pie crust, and this one was so easy and came out so well. I split the dough into two equal balls, flattened each into a disc, and let them rest in the fridge for 1/2 hr. Definately roll out between wax paper.
