Hot Water Pie Crust I

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
Fantastic! I hate making pie crust, and this one was so easy and came out so well. I split the dough into two equal balls, flattened each into a disc, and let them rest in the fridge for 1/2 hr. Definately roll out between wax paper.

These were great, very flavorful and easy. This is a fabulous idea for making homemade hot pockets with any filling.

South African Malvapoeding (Marshmallow Pudding)

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
The taste of this dessert was top-notch, but the actual baking process was strange. Is the milk supposed to curdle, both in the batter and in the topping? If not, how do you prevent this?

Baked Whole Cauliflower

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2008
I think cauliflower generally tastes like nothing at all, and this was the most tolerable cauliflower I've ever eaten. That is a miracle unto itself. I didn't have breadcrumbs, and substituted cornmeal with some Italian seasoning.

Never Fail Pie Crust II

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
I didn't like this as much as a traditional pie crust, but it was as easy as advertised.

Kiki's Borracho (Drunken) Beans

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
This came out more like a soup than I was expecting. Maybe I added too much water? Even so, it was tasty. Just the right amount of heat.

Iced Pumpkin Blondies

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
This is more like cake than bars (blondies are white chocolate brownies, which these are not). The original cake recipe is worth 5 stars. When I made it the second time, I added nutmeg and ginger, and half again the amount of pumpkin. I'd strongly recommend adding more cream cheese to the icing. I used two packages (16 oz total, NOT 6 oz as in the recipe), and added 1 tsp vanilla. Fiance ate them all up and demanded more!

Portuguese Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 16, 2008
This makes a TON of food! I halved the recipe and had enough leftovers to feed me and my fiance for another 4-5 meals. I added 2 tbsp worcestershire sauce to my halved recipe and the results were tasty.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
Weirdly awesome. I used black beans instead of kidney beans, and it was so tasty I probably won't ever try kidney beans. One of these is very filling.

Wow! The rosemary makes this soup great, and it's so easy to make. It freezes really well too.

Apple Pie by Grandma Ople

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
This really didn't work for me at all! The sugar mixture carmelized and I had to scrap the whole filling and start from scratch. I'm sure it's really good when it works right.

Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
Came together quickly and easily and held up well at room temperature. With the leftovers, I added more cream and whipped it all together, and it tasted just like cool whip.

Pumpkin Gobs

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
These are pretty good, but I wasn't blown away. I didn't use the filling as it didn't seem like the traditional filling I'm used to.

Classic Tapioca Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
I used minute tapioca instead of the quick cooking stuff (evidently there is a difference), so my pudding thickened much earlier than the recipe describes. Also I accidently added the vanilla at the beginning of the cooking process, and then added more at the end. However, the end result was still tasty!

Golden Biscuits

Reviewed: Oct. 26, 2008
This was an easy recipe to make. However, for 9 biscuits use 2 1/4 cups biscuit mix and 2/3 cup milk (not 3 cups of biscuit mix). 425 is also too hot, the biscuits were burning on the bottom after they'd been in the oven for ten minutes.

Red Bean Toss

This was a little weird, but good. To me, it tasted more like a dip than a dish, even a side dish.

Blueberry Snack Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2008
This cake was easy, and so moist and delicious without being over-sweet. A great use for blueberries. I added some cinnamon to the topping, which was very nice. I had to bake this for nearly 45 minutes before it was done.
