Smothered Pork Chops

This recipe was not to bad. The gravy was not as flavorful as I would have liked. I added a beef bouillon cube after thickening. The browning sauce-I could only find something called "seasoning sauce"-was dark in color but didn't darken the gravy much at all. Just ok-probably won't try again.

Alfredo Sauce

First time making alfredo sauce and this was a good receipe. I didn't have cream so I melted the butter and added a couple of tablespoons of flour to make a rue. Then added milk instead of cream-a little garlic powder and lots of pepper. So much better than the stuff in the jar at the store!!

Impossible Coconut Pie II

I was craving coconut pie and had all the ingredients but did want to go through the time of making the crust. This hit the spot! I also made some suggested changes using more coconut and sprinkling some on top before baking, using 3 eggs instead of 4 and using coconut extract instead of vanilla. I also used butter instead of margarine. It was scrumptious warm while the top was crunchy and toasty!

Amish Macaroni Salad

Very good macaroni salad but you definitely have to cut down on the sugar. The Miracle Whip makes it sweet and I used sweet relish instead of dill. Omitted the onion and celery but used onion powder instead. There also is alot of dressing for the macaroni so you may need to make extra. I think this would work really well, as another review suggested, as a dressing for potato salad.

Marinated Baked Pork Chops

Really good chops. Great flavor. I tripled the sauce and marinated the chops for about an hour before baking. I may leave the oil out of the sauce next time as the chops seemed a bit oily. The sauce does not stay thick which was a bit disappointing. I used thin chops but I think they would be much better with a thicker cut. Great marinade for grilling, too.

Orange Sponge Cake

The key to a light and fluffy sponge cake is to make sure to gently fold the egg whites that have been stiffly beaten into the rest of the batter. The only things I whip together are the eggs, sugar, zest and oj. I then stir in the flour/baking powder and then gently fold in the whites. You should also NEVER grease the pan with a sponge cake and allow it to cool upsidedown for 1 1/2 - 2 hours in the pan before removing. Works very well in a tube pan-this particular recipe may need to be doubled for that.

Grilled Cheese Sandwich

Grilled cheese sandwiches are always a wonderful, comfort food at our house. I usually serve on homemade white bread when we have it for dinner. After buttering the outside of the bread try sprinkling with parmesan cheese before grilling-yummy!

White Chocolate, Chocolate Cookies

Yummy, yummy! Rich and chocolately. My dough was very, very thick and the first batch didn't spread much so I added a bit of milk to loosen the batter and it worked perfectly. The were gone in 24 hours!

Pork Chops with Scalloped Potatoes

I really liked this dish. Family is not fond of one dish meals so it wasn't a big hit. But the flavors were really great. When I make any kind of pork gravy I usually use 1/2 chicken 1/2 beef bouillon.

Cheeseburger Meatloaf

Pretty good meatloaf for a change of pace. The cheese does add moisture but not much flavor. Have yet to find that killer meatloaf recipe (is there such a thing?).

Cabbage Roll Casserole

Love this recipe! I usually cut it in half and it makes a huge 9 x 13 inch pan. Best using Campbells beef broth-adds lots of flavor. Can substitute brown rice for a lower carb option-just cook a bit longer.

Best Ever Banana Bread

Wonderful flavor, moist and delicious. Lovely just warm from the oven when the top is still crunchy! Huge hit with the family. Made my own buttermilk with milk and vinegar since I don't keep buttermilk on hand.

Anniversary Chicken I
