Allison's Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2014
The only thing you have to do differently is to double the sauce. Perfection! (I did boil more pasta and added as I saw fit.) Do not skimp on the grapes. The dill makes this dish.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
I just made a double batch of this. It will now be the only zucchini bread recipe I will use. Only change I made was to do half white sugar/half brown sugar. DELICIOUS!!! I'm going to email everyone about it now...

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2008
This was really yummy. My tweaks: In a 4.5 qt. oven safe sauce pan, I sauteed the onion, then added some pressed garlic. I mixed the ground beef with 1/4 c. of worst. sauce, then added it to the onion and garlic to brown. Lots of salt and pepper. Then I added 2 cans of french style green beans to the meat, and then 1 pkg. of brown gravy and 1 cup water. I boiled a big bag of carrots until soft, then mashed them with a half a stick of butter. I whipped up 2 packages of four-cheese instant potatoes. I layered the mashed carrots on top of the hamburger and green beans (in that same oven safe pan the hamburger browned in), then layered that with the mashed potatoes, and sprinkled a good layer of sharp cheddar cheese on top. Popped it in the oven until melty and bubbly. Good comfort food. My husband wanted more gravy but I don't know that the layers would hold still if it was more saucy.

This salad is just the best. The dressing is absolutely to-die-for. Think I might try pine nuts next time!

I made this last night for my family for Valentine's day, along with the 'Honey Mustard Dressing II', and the 'Strawberry Spinach Salad I' from this site. Also the 'Chocolate Bar Fondue' for dessert. DIVINE.

Chicken Pot Pie IX

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2008
Not that this recipe needs another 5 star review, but just wanted to chime in about how FAAABULOUS this is. My family loves it! I always make 2 at a time - one for right now, and one to freeze and enjoy later, or give to someone else. People rave about it. My personal tweaks - I boil chicken breasts in about a carton and a half of chicken broth rather than water, with a quarter of an onion, some celery, and a bay leaf. Remove chicken breasts and cube, set aside. Strain the broth, save some for the gravy, return the rest to the pan and throw in a bag of frozen mixed veggies (corn, carrots, peas), a can of new potatoes, and the chicken, and boil while you make the delicious gravy. I use Pilsbury crust (it's perfectly fine) and bake the bottom crust for about 5 minutes before putting the chicken and veggies and gravy in, then seal it up with the top crust and bake. Sooooo good!
