Plum Kuchen

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
This was delicious. I had one minor problem with the batter being too stiff. I added a half cup+ of sour cream to make it easier to spread in the pan. I didn't have the size of pan rec., so I baked it in a tench inch spring form. I used 5 large plums cut in half (resulting in ten halves). Absolutely yummy and I will definitely make it again. Thanks for sharing!

Raisin Bread French Toast Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2013
This was so simple and delicious. I did NOT have raisin bread so I used challah and added extra cinnamon and a cup of raisins. I assembled the casserole the night before and refrigerated till the next morning when I was ready to bake. I also loosely tented it with foil when it started to brown too much. This is a great make ahead breakfast for company or the holidays. Thanks so much for sharing.

HERDEZ® Drowned Beef Sandwich with Chipotle Sauce (Torta Ahogada)

Reviewed: Jul. 10, 2013
Delicious Mexican twist to a "french" dip sandwich. I used bd. weld's slow roasted beef from this site for the meat, but otherwise I followed it to a T. Just a tiny kick and Sparky says to make this again soon. Thanks for sharing bd. weld!

Slow-Roasted Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2013
Love, love love this simple roast beef. This is a go to recipe that I use for sandwich meats. This is especially good for french dip sandwiches. Superior to anything you get in a deli and much cheaper too! I bring the second temperature to 128 because we prefer it on the rare side. Thanks for sharing bd weld

The Best Beer Can Chicken Ever

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2013
This method is a bit off though the seasonings are very interestng and flavorful.I admit to throwing on some rosemary for added flavor and I plugged the neck cavity with a potato so the steam did not escape. I would never try to set this directly on the grill over the can. Just too tippy for that. Put the can on an aluminum wrapped broiler pan so there is some stability and you don't have a chance of boiling hot ingredients tipping over on you. This took almost 90 minutes to cook through for me but it would depend on the temp of your grill. Thanks for sharing!

Pam's Sugar Free Chocolate Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2013
Five stars for using the sugar free cook and serve pudding instead of the instant called for. I also used half & half cuz I was out of milk but that made it all the more rich and creamy. Stirred in a teaspoon of vanilla for flavor too. I poured it into homemade tart shells and it is delish. Thanks so much for sharing.

French Short Pastry

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2013
I too like the method in the food processor. Easy peasy. Just needed to double the salt if using unsalted butter. I used this for chocolate tarts and it was a nice, sturdy & tender crust. Thanks for sharing!

Beer Butt Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2013
This is a fab method for roasted chicken. I upped the seasoning big time and stuffed the neck of the bird with a head of garlic. Two hours was just perfect on an indirect grill heat. Forgot to grease the beer can, but it still slid out easily with the help of some tongs. Very yummy and now a regular on our table :)

Baked Oatmeal

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2013
This is a very nice oatmeal prep. My husband described it as an oatmeal cookie in a bowl with milk :) The next time I would cut the sugar and salt in half but otherwise very tasty and an easy make ahead breakfast. Thanks for sharing.

Northwest Fried Razor Clam Fillets

Reviewed: May 2, 2013
First I have to thank my dear brother for bringing us fresh razor clams from the Pacific Northwest to the desert. I miss this PNW delicacy. This recipe was very nice with the crunchy panko though I do prefer my clams cooked for a few minutes on each side. (I like them chewy) I used half butter and half oil to avoid burning the butter. Yummy....Thanks for sharing to the submitter and my bro!

Butterfinger Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2013
I had some problems with these. Too thin and flat and they were overbaked at 8 minutes. Took another reviewers advice and chilled the rest of the dough and baked them for 9 minutes at 350 with better results.Too much trouble to make them again. Thanks for sharing.

Mama Gunn's Pound Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2013
This was a good pound cake though I cannot vouch for the baking time. There are only the two of us, so I baked this is muffin tins for 20 minutes so I could freeze the little cakes for future use. Tasty as a base for fresh strawberries and whipping cream. Thanks for sharing!

Avocado Baked Eggs

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2013
Hmmm thought this would work...Pretty but not a winner for us. It took 30 minutes (checked them earlier and the yolk was done but the white was liquid) to cook the eggs through and it really had an unappealing outcome. Just not our taste I guess, and we love every ingredient in this....just not the sum of the ingredients and method.
