Aloha from Las Vegas! I wanted to announce that I am hosting the 3rd annual Viva Las Vegas blowout on Saturday May 17, 2014 at my home in Las Vegas.

If you have never attended one of these gatherings in various parts of the country, you are missing a real treat. Like many others who have attended or hosted one of these get togethers, I have found a great group of folks who have become much loved friends. I would certainly encourage anyone to host a gathering or just meet up with a fellow AR friend in your area or along your travels. I always enjoy reading about the encounters of AR members across the country. These meetings never cease to bring a smile to my face :)

We had a blast in 2011 and 2012 and I think this year will be no exception. I have received RSVP's from many of last years attendees. There will also be many new faces this year from across America. Folks will be arriving throughout the week, so we will be doing all the fun Las Vegas sight seeing as a run up to the gathering at my home. We will be having a no host dinner on Friday night (location to be announced) as a meet and greet. Saturday I will be hosting the Allrecipeeps at my new home in Las Vegas.  Many of us will gather for brunch on Sunday morning before folks depart for home. Believe me, we enjoy every minute of this and we all part happy to be a part of it.

The theme will once again be Hawaiian. If you have a tacky Hawaiian shirt or dress......bring it along. You will surely fit in.If you are interested in attending, please email me at so I can add you to my contact list. I would LOVE to have you!

PS I do have a spare room and a few couches if you need a place to sleep. First come, first served :)

I will try!! May be a scheduling contact at work. To those who have been to an AR meet up, you know the fun and friendships that follow. If you haven't been to one, please do! Repeating myself, but you just never know where your next friend will come from.

Argh, scheduling conflict not contact.

Not sure about it. Our 50th anniversary is the day before. We have plans, I think, to go out of state. Sad but true.

CanNOT wait!!!!! I have an actual hawaiian dress from Hawaii to wear =D And an apron from Hawaii, too! I may have to figure out a new on-my-way-home-leaving-Las Vegas tradition, though )= I went to the Hard Rock in San Francisco last month, and the creme brulee is NOT on the menu ))))))))=
Feb. 19, 2014 6:59 am
I think Marianne should celebrate her anniversary in LV! Though Russ may want her all to himself ;)

Feb. 19, 2014 9:28 am
Julie, Julie, Julie, do I love you?! Of course I'll be dancing in the streets of Las Vegas with you and all of our friends in May! It's kind of prophetic. Just yesterday Randy asked if I had heard anything about a Las Vegas Round Up in May. I guess he knew all along! Love it that he is a part of our AR life and that he is so supportive. Life is good and I am blessed!

I'm coming! Count me in!
Feb. 19, 2014 2:04 pm
Just saw this today and wondered if our jet-setting Magnolia Blossom would be jetting to LV. Absolutely nothing better than a roundup and you never know who you will meet or who will show up! Have a great time!

So I get a text this afternoon...cough, cough from our dear gamma ray. Immediately I think "poor thing" is sick and in need of appropriate sympathy. So I make soothing comments and send her virtual chicken soup. Then she tells me about calling in sick. Hehe, I already called in sick well in advance (just kidding). I will be there with bells on. Well, maybe not bells. But I do have dangling earrings now after Maui. Does that count. Can't wait to see my good friends as well as new ones!

Great news Magnolia Blossom. Party time!
Feb. 19, 2014 7:28 pm
I would just like to add that YOURS, Julie, was the first round-up I attended. What a hoot we all had, didn't we? At your home is where I met the wonderful Peeps from our AR Community! Christine, Orange and I will certainly put these dates on our calendar. Oh yes! It's Party time!

Feb. 20, 2014 12:08 am
She will be bejeweled and bedazzled like a showgirl ;)
Feb. 20, 2014 8:30 am
Should we put her in a show gamma?
Feb. 20, 2014 10:31 am
Hey - leave those shows to me! :D I have got lots going on right now, so I can't make any promises - but oh to see my sweet friends again AND make some new ones!! I'll bring my hula outfit if I come, though!!
Feb. 21, 2014 5:13 am
Maybe we can get MB to dance with you in Vegas, since I did in HI ;) [I bet she'd make a better showgirl than me! My rhythm is non-existant!]
Feb. 23, 2014 8:19 am
Oh pleeeeeeeeze come to Vegas Mi. I miss you!!!
Feb. 24, 2014 12:16 am
Wouldn't that be GREAT?!
Feb. 24, 2014 12:17 am
Hmmmmmm . . . is there a twisty, windy, 1-2 lane road in Vegas for Ms Magnolia Blossom to navigate?

About Me
I have been married for 43 years to the most amazing man on the planet. He is quiet and deliberate and I am NOT. We have one grown son (and his partner) that we adore. Because they work for the airlines they drop in on a flight frequently and we feel so lucky for that. We retired after 30 years at our careers from our native Olympia to Maui and now most recently retreated to Las Vegas to try to ride out this horrendous economy. We bought a small home here and I gutted it and am putting it back together, so I spend most of my time fine tuning the decorating and now I am plunging into a full tropical landscaping to remind us of our beautiful Maui. I miss the PNW, but NOT the weather. Miss the razor clams and the wild beaches of Washington and Oregon. Miss my friends too. Happy to have my friends from Allrecipes though. The four legged critter you see on my profile is a five year old yorkie/bichon who is the greatest little (9 lbs) girl ever. Quiet and calm, but so excited about life.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything...just mostly like the art of cooking and baking and sharing my art with friends and families. Love the smells that emanate from my kitchen and the familiar memories that come flooding back. The scents from my kitchen are probably my favorite thing in the house.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother used to like to make a big deal out of almost any holiday, so I have followed through with that tradition. Valentine's Day, Christmas, St. Paddy's day, Thanksgiving, Easter, Oscar night are just a few of my favorite cooking traditions. Birthday parties for all my loved ones are something I love to do too.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I mastered sauce bearnaise, or raviolis from scratch or my first perfect cheesecake or my first wedding catering job or meeting Julia Child (about 25 years ago).
My cooking tragedies
(See above) Well....Julia was so cranky and rude it ruined my love of I sold all my Julia Child cookbooks (some of them signed) at a garage sale for $1.00 apiece. Now I wish I would have kept them of course. I guess Julia was just having a bad day:( & I was foolish of course.
