Well, the party stuff is put away. The house is clean. Chef Luigi and Mis7Up have sent out most of the scoop from Las Vegas. So I decided to cover just a few of the details.......starting with the gift bags.

Cute as a Button Cookies, square hazelnut shortbread & hand beaded bracelets made by Candice with a sweet note that read.....
"Try to find "Hope" in difficult circumstances
"Love" all those who will allow you to
and "Laugh" at yourself at least once a day!"

Cadbury Time Out bar and magnets by our AR Trishie from Ireland

Silk leis to make us all look festive were brought by Magnolia Blossom

Colorful tissue holders were made by What's for dinner mom's
10 year old daughter

Flip flop albums were made by Mauigirl
Mauigirl (aka me) also provided the beach bags for the goodies

Irish luck & the flag of Ireland was sent all the way across the Atlantic by Trishie
Magnet reads...
Ample food and Sturdy Drink,A clean pillow for your head,
And may you be forty years in heaven
B'for the devil knows you're dead.

Name tags made by Mauigirl

Allrecipes schwag provided by Allrecipes and hand carried by
AR Elizabeth and AR Rachel U (Elizabeth's sister)

Money Tree in ceramic chinese carton
sent by Avon from Oregon
I just had to take a picture next to my chinese bell :)
Note from Avon aka Ann reads, "Here's hoping that all
of you have a wonderful time and "Good Fortune" this weekend.
Just know that even though I'm not here to celebrate with all of you,
I'm here in spirit and thinking of you all basking in the sun,
sipping drinks, eating great food, laughing, and making great memories.
Love, Avon aka Anne

On the far left is one of the beautiful dishcloths
that our Ladysparkle made for everyone

So that's the details of this event. As you can see, there were some very cool things indeed.  Mahalo to you all for making this a great success.  I know all of us treasured every little thing......
but especially each other.

Warmest aloha to you all,
Mauigirl  aka Julie

Sorry the print is so screwed up. I am a lousy blogger and technically challenged to say the least. Will try to redo it later. Thanks for your patience:)

P.S. I sent Randy's sangria recipe to AR today and gave you a "shout out" in the "description" space, titled, "Sangria a la Las Vegas Round Up 2011".

Were the "Trishie" magnets not in the package too? I sent 2 different types of magnets 12 of each?

May 19, 2011 2:17 pm
Yes they were Trishie, but my bag only had the luck of the irish poem. I should have take pix of the schwag when everyone was here :(

May 19, 2011 6:55 pm
Great blog mauigirl. Everyone had a great time!

May 19, 2011 7:50 pm
Oh Julie, I am soo happy for all of you! I feel just awful about your hubby. I understand about the health care, just had to cancel the kids's insurance. They are hardly ever sick and when they need to go to the dentist, I will pay out of pocket with not having to pay over $700. every 2 months for Blue Cross. It is CRAZY, tooo much. Take care and I'll bet the cross dressing women were a Hoot!! Hugs Honey. Thanks for hosting another Smashing success!

Love it Jules and the yard and home are gorgeous. I'm really sorry to hear of DH's job, this is not a fun journey, and unfortunately an all to frequent one for so many. He'll bounce back and so will you. There was no mention, but I'm assuming that you got the card as well?

May 20, 2011 8:32 pm
Well, it's Friday evening and I'm finally rested up! Yeah, that's how much fun I had. It's taken me a week to recuperate. hehehe. Honestly Julie, I had the VERY BEST time. Thank you again so much... And, thank you for "allowing ME to love YOU." You're awesome girlfriend!

May 20, 2011 11:12 pm
I am so sorry Avon. I misplaced a card if I got it. I swear it was like a whirlwind and I would have lost my butt if it wasn't attached. BTW Your friend Candice is a keeper and so is her lovely daughter. Come on down anytime. I would love to show you around town. Love you girls!

Carrie, I have made those albums before when I lived on Maui.......just not 18 at a time. I was working on them for a couple of weeks. ARGH! Cute though.

May 21, 2011 8:31 pm
:D Maui, I am sure you would show me a great time, but my buns get busy this time of year and they are shakin' around the farm just a little too much to find time to vacation. One day, one day!

May 22, 2011 1:05 pm
RNG will be waiting to host you. Might even throw you a luau kid :)

I know I’m rather late getting on the band-wagon here, but I JUST got back from the “Vegas Gathering of AllRecipeeps”. (Well actually a few days ago but we had a family birthday, the holiday weekend and visitors from out of town. So this is the first chance I’ve really had to be online.) I missed the feedback and such from the other foodies, which just bums me out but…. I was in Vegas for a separate reunion and was unable to attend all but one of the AR events. My hubby, my mom and I (all AR members) met with the foodies on Friday, on The Strip, at the Harley-Davidson Cafe. We had a great time and it was so nice to meet everyone. A special thanks here to AllRecipes.com for sending Elizabeth and for picking up the tab--how very nice. From the few blips I’ve read, it sounds like we really missed a fantastic time the next day at the luau--oh how I wish…. MauiGirl was so generous to lend her home, host and organize this Gathering (darn, I missed out on the scrapbooks she made) and I send her our thanks and kudos on the successfulness of it all. Another darn that I missed out on, was meeting some of the foodies that weren’t there on Friday. And even though we didn’t get any of the fun gifts (e.g. the AR bag or spatulas), I appreciate that so many foodies and AR were thoughtful enough to send them. I hope these AR Gatherings can continue and move around the country and around the globe. Thanks to all involved in any way. Oh, and Mis7Up--a tat, really? You deserve a lifetime membership for that! . (cc: ChefLuigi’s Blog, FB, +)

About Me
I have been married for 43 years to the most amazing man on the planet. He is quiet and deliberate and I am NOT. We have one grown son (and his partner) that we adore. Because they work for the airlines they drop in on a flight frequently and we feel so lucky for that. We retired after 30 years at our careers from our native Olympia to Maui and now most recently retreated to Las Vegas to try to ride out this horrendous economy. We bought a small home here and I gutted it and am putting it back together, so I spend most of my time fine tuning the decorating and now I am plunging into a full tropical landscaping to remind us of our beautiful Maui. I miss the PNW, but NOT the weather. Miss the razor clams and the wild beaches of Washington and Oregon. Miss my friends too. Happy to have my friends from Allrecipes though. The four legged critter you see on my profile is a five year old yorkie/bichon who is the greatest little (9 lbs) girl ever. Quiet and calm, but so excited about life.
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook just about anything...just mostly like the art of cooking and baking and sharing my art with friends and families. Love the smells that emanate from my kitchen and the familiar memories that come flooding back. The scents from my kitchen are probably my favorite thing in the house.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother used to like to make a big deal out of almost any holiday, so I have followed through with that tradition. Valentine's Day, Christmas, St. Paddy's day, Thanksgiving, Easter, Oscar night are just a few of my favorite cooking traditions. Birthday parties for all my loved ones are something I love to do too.
My cooking triumphs
The first time I mastered sauce bearnaise, or raviolis from scratch or my first perfect cheesecake or my first wedding catering job or meeting Julia Child (about 25 years ago).
My cooking tragedies
(See above) Well....Julia was so cranky and rude it ruined my love of her.....so I sold all my Julia Child cookbooks (some of them signed) at a garage sale for $1.00 apiece. Now I wish I would have kept them of course. I guess Julia was just having a bad day:( & I was foolish of course.
