World's Best Pasta Sauce!

Reviewed: Nov. 17, 2012
Absolutely awesome recipe! This is the only pasta sauce that we use. I usually double or triple the recipe, add fresh basil instead of dried and let simmer for several hours. I've even tried it with honey garlic sausage (couldn't find any mild Italian at the time - and it was quite tasty. Thanks John for a great recipe!

Mushrooms with a Soy Sauce Glaze

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
Oh my! These are awesome. Thankfully nobody else in the family likes mushrooms, so I got them all to myself! The only thing was that I couldn't wait for the steak to be ready - and ate all of the mushrooms beforehand. lol I used portabella mushrooms - very tasty! Thank you.

Awesome Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
Absolutely easy and delicious! I typically use an eye of round roast or sirloin tip and they always turn out so tender. I use the leftovers with some of the gravy reserved for a fricasee ... basically a stir fry with sliced potatoes, the leftover roast / gravy and a vegetable (beans, carrots or whatever I have on hand).

Potato Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2009
I too was skeptical at first and just had to try it ... wow! I can't wait to share this with my husband and kiddies. I used parchment paper right on top of the turntable dish of the microwave. Just keep an eye, because once they start browning it doesn't take to much longer. Thank you for a simple and tasty treat!

Spiced Pumpkin Seeds

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2008
Ok - get these away from me! I can't stop eating them - they're delicious! I followed some of the other reviewer's advice .... some said double the spice, others said quadruple ... so I went in the middle and tripled it. I also used butter instead of margarine and replaced some of the salt with seasoning salt instead. And added garlic powder. :) I had melted the butter and mixed in the seasonings then poured it over the seeds. I was a little worried at first because it seemed like there was a lot of excess liquid but I think it helped to keep them moist (and tasty). Thanks for a great way to use up the pumpkin seeds from the jack-o-lanterns.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
This was my first attempt at lasagna and I was quite impressed with the results! I will not hesitate to make this for guests. My sauce was a little thick .... I had drained most of the fat from browning the meats but I'm not sure if I was supposed to. But I didn't like all that fat. When I reheated some of the sauce tonight for gnocchi I simply added some water and it was of a perfect consistency and still extremely taste. The kids cleaned their plates with bread just to get all of the sauce! My husband thought the lasagna was just "ok" - but he's not so fond about ricotta cheese. So next time I may choose to make it without. The sauce really is awesome though! I doubled the recipe and froze several containers to use with fresh gnocchi (also from this site) or when I make risotto. My next attempt I'm going to replace some of the mozzerella for either brick or montery jack, I think that will enhance it even more so! Thanks for a great recipe!

Gnocchi I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
Good recipe - the family enjoyed homemade gnocchi. One note of caution though ... I often like to double recipe so that I have extras for freezing. This is probably not the best recipe to do that - or at least be very consious of how much it makes. lol I made the mistake of trying to use up my potatoes so I cooked about a dozen. LOL After making gnocchi for almost 3 hours I gave up and put the rest in the fridge. But I have about 4 meals worth (to serve a family of five) in the freezer. :) I did add some butter, parmesan cheese and garlic salt to the mix which added some flavour. Thanks for the recipe!

French Toast I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
Delicious! I make this on Saturday mornings for the kids and they devour it ... I can't make it fast enough! The combination of the nutmeg, cinnamon and vanilla give it a really nice flavour. Thank you.

Savory Crescent Chicken

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2008
I always roast two chickens at a time to ensure that I have leftovers - and this was a delicious way of using up the chicken! These were really tasty and very easy to make. Rather than folding the dough inwards I used two crescant triangles on the bottom (to form a rectangle) and did the same for the top. I added a caesar dressing (dry) mix along with extra garlic powder which really made them tasty. I think you can probably add any favourite vegetable to the mix and would just enhance the whole meal. Will certainly be trying many variations of vegetables with this recipe. Thanks!
