My First Ever Wedding Cake, no experience necessary!!!!

My First Ever Wedding Cake, no experience necessary!!!!

When my friend told me that she was getting married, she said that the most important thing to her, on a tight budget, was to have a really nice wedding cake to appease her chocolate fetish. I thought, well, how hard can that be and so volunteered to do her cake - though the most I'd ever done before was a real German Chocolate Cake from scratch or my kids box cake with box icing. Decided upon a chocolate butter cake with chocolate buttercream between the layers and for the crumb coat and then did a to die for chocolate ganache for the frosting. Decorated with orange ribbon and fresh purple pansies. Needless to say, the bride was so astounded and I was in shock that I was able to pull it off. My next volunteer wedding cake is scheduled for September 7.
